Creaky clutch pedal

Ok so I've oiled and lubricated the bar that holds all 3 pedals, and this creak is still there. There is a piston on the back of the clutch pedal that disappears into the bodywork.

Anyone got any idea where I can 'get to it'? All it needs is a bit of lubrication on whatever is pivoting....

Hi there,

Not easy to get to as the clutch and brake cylinders are mounted onto the back of the pedel box...

If you remove the plastic black cover in the passanger wing you can get some limited access.. Remember to re-seal again after or expect a footwell water flood at some point.

I doubt the clutch push rod would make much of a noise tho because it slide through a seal and should only make contact with the cylinder at the rodes end..

Hmm, well the clutch is still working perfectly, it just creaks for about an inch of travel, about half way along. Odd.

Just wondering if the clutch pedal assembly is a GM (Vauxhall) part??
Only reason I ask is that had quite a few vauxhall company cars in the past and they all did that...Cavalier TD, Vectra 1.8 LS, Vectra 2.5 GSI and Omega MV6???????

Clutch pedal assembly and pushrod are TVR parts. The master cylinder casting is a Girling component going back forty-odd years. It was used on the Lotus Cortina, Hillman Imp Sport, Lotus Elan, Triumph TR4 et al.

Hmmm on second thoughts I think it is the bar that the pedals hinge on, as its got a bit quieter. Is it just metal against metal, or are there some extra bits in there that perhaps could wear down?

My clutch does exactly the same thing at times ( in fact i've just noticed in the last week or so that the pedal feels a bit sticky at times) and responds to a judicious spray with WD 40 or rubber and nylon lubricant spray on the pedal trunnion. I not sure but i think there are nylon bearings between the pedal bore and the trunnion. IIRC there are small lubrication hole(s) in the upper surface of tubes on the brake and clutch pedals if you can get access it may be worth injecting into here with the flexible tube on a can of WD 40.
As far as the origon of the master cylinder - i would have thought more likley generic Lockheed / Girling than Vauxhall (ATE). Incidentally my Vectra 2.5 has never done this.....

I swore blind that the noise was coming from the pedal but it is actually the sound travelling down the clutch fluid from inside the bell housing.
