First post but long term lurker and thought I’d post to hear peoples experiences of the Nissan Quasqui. We are looking at a 2019 with the 1.3 petrol engine. Anyone have any experiences of these ? Are the engines reliable (I believe it’s a new engine to replace the previous 1.2).

They're crap. But if that's what you want then might as well go for it. I know someone who bought one of a similar age and the drivers door rattles like a skeleton having a five knuckle shuffle in a biscuit tin... which he is really annoyed about.

I would advise anybody looking for a car to buy a 15 year old V8. So probably not the right person to be answering your question about a Nissan Quasimodo

Thanks, it’s not really a car I have considered before but it’s for the wife. I just wanted to make sure they were not too fart gas for me to consider,

My wife has a 2017 model albeit with the 1.5dci engine. Tbh it is actually very good for what it is. It's isn't going to give you exhilarating performance or great driving dynamics but it is a reliable and practical shopping car which is why they sell by the bucketload.

My experience may very well be spec dependent as ours is an "N-Connecta" model which has built in sat nav, 360 camera, full panoramic roof with electric shade, keyless entry etc so a bit above the base model

Not owned one but the 1.3 turbo is used in many Renaults , Dacia Dusters & entry level petrol Mercedes as well.

Yes, they're fine for what they are. We have a 2019 (69 lol) 1.3 N-Connecta and the 360 camera is great. The 1.3 is ok performance-wise - a definite improvement on the 1.2 we had before. It does what we need it to do - we have it mostly because Mrs FTR likes the SUV look and it is (contrary to popular belief on here) pretty practical.

We haven't had any reliability issues (touch wood).

My wife has a 2019 model and has extended the lease twice as she likes it.

The engine is fine. Ours is the 140PS but is quite cleverly calibrated to feel torquey at part throttle. This means it feels fine in normal driving, but if you try and drive it hard you realise it doesn't have much more than you've been using. Certainly not underpowered as a family runabout though. Can be very economical too (50mpg+).

Had to replace the battery at just over three years old which was odd. First time I've ever had to replace one on any car I think.

Ours is Acenta Premium which is pretty much the base model but still has plenty of kit.

Awful cars, if you do get one then make it a manual. The Nissan CVT on their auto are horrific. As someone else said, the build quality and sound deadening is woeful.

I owned an X-Trail in a previous life, hands down the worst car I've ever had.

I had this one as a courtesy car , still baffled why I didn’t like it as I’ve had loads of Nissans & was fine with them all , changed it for a Ford kuga and really liked it .

I had the misfortune to be given one as a hire car it was a 2024 hybrid one.

Drove like a skip on acid, it was a self charging hybrid so would randomly start its engine and hold the revs at 4k rpm which was odd.

terrible ergonomics and horrendous understeer.

only buy one if you want all the joy sucked out of your life

My wife has had a 2015 1.5dci for 8 years. It’s on 130k miles, 70k done by us, and apart from wear items (including a recent clutch) nothing has ever broken and it’s never let us down. Decent long distance car as well, we’ve done the south of France several times in it, bikes on a towbar rack and fully loaded with all our gear plus 2 kids.

No it’s not exciting, but it was never meant to be. It does its job perfectly well, certainly better than a lot of other cars and it feels like it would carry on going forever.

If the wife likes them then there's no reason not to buy one, the 1.3 is a much improved engine over the 1.2.
