Anyone used shiply ? I need a car transporting from a town just south of Manchester down to London near Heathrow

I did a quick quote on there and got loads of offers but wanted to check if it’s a trustworthy service

Is it a case if just checking the reviews for the people who respond with a quote ?

Thanks

Pretty much - I'd check their reviews, also ask them for proof of liability insurance too.

Out of interest what are the quotes like? Is it an expensive car?

Yes, a few times.
Moving cars around or picking up furniture.
Always a good experience with no problems.

Used them to collect a Stag recently. Very good, no issues, just check the individual quotes and go for the ones that have strong reviews.

Ah, too expensive for me to offer to trailer it then! £350 isn't bad if it's a decent outfit

Yes. I used them to collect a track day car. I was neither present for collection nor drop-off at my home, but all went smoothly and I was very happy with the service.

I notice the quotes just have a green tick next to them for insurance but you reckon get them to email their documents with proof ? Thanks

Leave it up for as long as you can and all the people quoting will gradually reduce their prices.

I noticed that they start high and reduce them by quite a lot as they compete against one another especially if someone has an empty backload going that general direction.

I used them for transporting a Westfield XI bonnet and scuttle- absolute nightmare. Didn’t go with the cheapest quote but was let down three times by various shippers- vendor was being messed around as well as I had no control over the collection. Reviews not always a good guide.

I mean what could possibly go wrong, you are getting the utter bottom feeders of the industry, competing against each other purely on price, yet people seem surprised when the car is damaged, or the insurance is non existent, the truck looks like it spent its life on the Titanic, driver has the brains of a banana, bad communications or not delivered when it should be etc.

For a pile if scrap, yeh use it what does it matter? for something half decent you'd have to be mental, when 2 secs on Google or even searching this site would bring up decent respected firms that have been doing it a very long time.

I used a guy from Shiply for several movements and he’s been perfect - reasonably priced, reliable and correctly insured. I just drop him a line directly now if I need anything doing.

He’ll do nationwide stuff, but is based in Stafford.

PM me if you’d like his details.

I agree. I used them once to get a tentative quote. I kept getting people dropping and dropping their quotes. It left me wondering what their service was actually going to be like. For an expensive car I’d accept a higher cost from an established company and take comfort in knowing my car was safe and would be delivered on time.

I'd be asking for a copy of their goods in transit insurance and what vehicle/outfit they use.

to put it into context a reputable company using pick ups and trailers running legally with tacho's quoted £350+vat

I used Shiply to collect an Evoque for me from Windsor to the Cotswolds as I was unable to collect it in person.
Two main options - did you want them to drive it or did you want them to transport it?

The guy I used was very good and fancied a trip out to the Cotswolds anyway, sent me a photo of when he had the car loaded and a couple of updates en route with an ETA.

If you can also be flexible on dates it can be cheaper as they can try to fit it in with a return trip
