Slightly confused. Got a new to me BMW. It has keyless start but you need to press the button on the key to unlock the door.

Is it just keyless entry that means a Faraday pouch is worth getting?

So it has no comfort access. Technically speaking no.

But for safety I would still get one as potentially depending on year your key may not go to sleep, if they find an entry method in theory they could then boost the signal to start it and drive off.

You might want to invest in a steering wheel lock too.

I’ve had this scenario with an Audi.

You are correct in your assumption insofar that cloning the signal will not give them entry to the car and in the Audis case you still needed the key buttons to turn off the alarm.

There is always a however…

.. and I this situation it becomes a risk if someone forgets to lock it on the day.

No you don't need a pouch because when they turn up at 3am with their signal amplifier, look at your door handle and see it doesn't have the little thumb button thing that keyless entry cars have, they'll just keep walking down the street and find one of the many, many that probably does.
