Seamaster Calibre 2500C repair
Discussion
I have just found the warranty card and bag of bits and this happened in 2014, covered by an extended warranty.
The watch works, but will not manually wind after 30 hours or so of not wearing. You can feel resistance when spinning the crown, almost like the gears/cogs are grinding. You feel this when screwing in the crown too. The date and time set positions work fine.
So it’s been 9 years since its service. Probably due. The Omega website shows £590 for a full service. I assume this will increase due to the repair. The site also shows H L BROWN & SON LTD as an authorised service centre. Will this be UK or Swiss service / repaired? I have read a thread recently where a UK repair didn’t go so well.
And of course, any other recommendations for third party repair? Preferably around the Derbyshire area.
Appreciated.

HL Browns have bene in Sheffield for many many decades. I used them this year for a service on my Omega Planet Ocean, cost £450 and was quoted about 4 months, but came back a little sooner. No problems at all using HL Browns.
But even having them service my watch, they wouldn't really talk to me about any possibility of getting on their waiting list for a Rolex I'm after, which was poor.

Send it to Duncan at Genesis Watchmaking he will sort it no problem and usually it’s back with you in a fortnight. He serviced my PO 2500c also repaired the damage to one of the lugs, also re pinned, refinished the bracelet and case,.it came back like new. One year warranty comes with the repair. He is well revered on TZ.

Great shout. What is the best way to post the watch? PT1984 said:
This sounds exactly my issue. Looks like it’s a flat £600 for the service, and this will include the repair. Do you know of they sent it to Southampton or Swiss Land?
They do not send watches back to Switzerland repairs and servicing are carried out at Eastleigh Hampshire. The repair that went wrong was the AD he entrusted his watch to sent to a local watchmaker they use although the guy assumed it was going to Omega, they cocked it up.Gassing Station | Watches | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
