Will be interesting to see ....

No, but it wouldn’t be the PH watch forum without some kind of snobbery and fear of being mistaken for one of the poor people would it?

Am I missing something? None of those look like a Fifty.

The colour of these is inspired by a nudibranch!

GQ Magazine said:
While the dial colours or specifics are unknown, we can confirm each one will feature brand new bioceramic colours, and each watch’s colourway is inspired by a nudibranch that is native to the particular ocean.

They haven't been released yet, not even a teaser.

This is a render by Monochrome:

They are expected to be powered by the Swatch Sistem 51 calibre, which is quite an interesting calibre in its own right.

You’re right, it wouldn’t. Just like the ‘Drinking coffee and talking watches’ page on Faceache, watch snobbery at its finest. It’s hilarious.

I LOVE the idea, but I went a bit cold on the Omega/Swatch after seeing them in real.

Plus all the contrived hype puts me off.

If I could walk in and buy one, or better still, buy one online, then maybe.

I applaud them for doing these cross-overs though. Great idea.

I'm a big fan of the Fifty Fathoms but have never had the balls to stump up the cash.

What I don't understand is that the FF is a proper divers watch with at least as much (and arguably more) heritage as the Rolex sub.
But the Swatch watch will probably only be splash resistant...it doesn't really make sense.

And before someone brings up the usual cliche, yes, I do actually dive with my dive watches.

And no doubt there will be a line of 100 young males who are all wearing the same clothes and trainers sitting on fold up chairs ahead of you waiting to buy one to flip on eBay.

This watch will be used to raise the profile of Blancpan as a brand off the back of the Omega Swatch collaboration. It will inevitably do that along with selling a lot of swatch units.

It was reported that sales of genuine Omegas increased off the back of the swatch collaboration, they will be hoping for the same with rhe lesser known blancpan.

I live far from the big smoke of the capital .... So once showered after parkrun and travelling an hour to an AD there should only be 99 in the queue .... It's not like I actually want the watch for myself banghead

I would like to see them do one of these. If they plasticise a current design it may look too close to a modded seiko to look distinctive.

Blancpain has kept itself low profile, largely unknown and with very low production volumes - those are some of the reasons I find the brand attractive. This is now just a commercial sell out. I can't imagine Lange & Sohne or Breguet doing the same; this just feels like Mercedes going for higher volumes only to realise it's not a great long term prospect, hence their plan to rationalise their range and get their reputation back.

It's not snobbery or being mistaken for 'one of the poor people' - it's just a shame (in my view at least) to splash the brand all over something much cheaper and ubiquitous.

Has it happened with Omega? It's put me off and I've been a lifelong fan. I think ideas like these have short term gains that please the beancounters but it's brand dilution in the longer term.
