Best sounding 4 pot car I've had was an Abarth 124 Spider.

I had a Lancia Beta Berlina with the 2 litre twin cam, sounded great and pulled like a train. I would buy the duplicate of that car if I could find one.

70s Fiat and Alfa twin-cams always sound great, but the best for me was my mate's Hot Rod with a Ford X-Flow, twin 40s and not too much silencing! smile

I dont know but it almost certainly wasnt made in the last 40 years.

From the production road cars I've heard, the Honda S600 is right up there.

Lotus Esprit S1, Sardinia, Roger Becker doubling as James Bond in The Spy Who Loved Me.

I’ve never been the same again since my four year old self watched the helicopter chase!

Yep. 1600 Alfa Nord, with Webers and air box replaced by K&Ns.

The racing HSCC GTAs sound epic.

My favourite that I’ve actually heard (I’m sure there are better examples) is the 2ZZ in my Elise 111R with sports exhaust, sonorous at high revs.

Motorbike 4 cylinder engines sound epic, they are much better than car engines, I guess it’s the light weight and mega revs and the firing order.

That's true!

I've never worked out why though. confused

I remember clearly hearing a Z900 with a Harris Magnum 4 into 1 at Box Hill in the 70s, and I still haven't heard a better sounding 4 cylinder engine.
