Speedy Pro service recommendations
Discussion
Hi all
A while ago I was winding my speedy and instead of the usual defined stop it has when it's fully wound made a weird noise and from then on there's no stop on the winder anymore. I was concerned about using it and put it in my drawer and haven't used it since and really missed it, but at the time didn't have a spare 500 quid or more to sort it.
I did some research and sounded like the clockspring may be broken or something. It still works, I wound it a bit and wore it and it kept time but I am mindful that I don't want to damage it further and it is due a service anyway.
I have since tried two places and both said they could do it then said they couldn't. One was an old boy who said he doesn't do chronographs when he saw it, even though I told him over the phone what it was he was a small independent that had great reviews but naturally I wasn't impressed given anyone who knows watches knows what a speed pro is!?
... I took it took it to another place, an actual shop this time "Watches by timepiece" they said they could do it for 400, "but potential to go up once investigation done" understandable I thought as it needed diagnosis.
They had it 3 weeks then rang to tell me they couldn't do it, because they didn't realise what the watch was and the movement is too complicated "but we can send it to another place that can definitely do it but it'll be more money"
I asked if they even diagnosed it and they said they didn't even get that far. So I said nah I'm not happy with that, I'm coming for it now.
"Oh no we've sent it away we will have to get it back" Took 2 weeks to get it back and get refunded.
So that leads me to now. I've pissed lots of time away, really wanted it sorted for my holiday in a couple of weeks and that's not gonna happen now.
I just want to give it to someone who A. Knows what they're bloody doing and what the watch is and B. Is going to do it in house...
I know people may pipe up with just send it to omega but I've seen some people have poor experiences with them on here and they are extortionately priced where an indie may take more pride in their work.
Can anyone help?

Can’t fault Duncan’s work, I’d phone him and discuss

Watch doctors in Tring are my recommendation - they do my servicing and have always been very good. Here’s a link https://watchdoctors.co.uk/

I've seen them mentioned loads of times, what are the prices like, I see you can "pop in", do they do tours of their workshop? id love to see inside a watch workshop, it fascinates me. Anglesey watches and clocks. Really good service. Very reasonable prices. Really nice chap.

I’ve just had my speedy pro serviced and new clock spring at prime time watch repairs, check out his Instagram. The chap is called Steve, he’s really helpful and northwest based. Think it was £400 to sort and he had it done within a couple of weeks, I reckon if you said you wanted it for holiday he would try and accommodate.
