Yep, saw this first time around and whether it’s the diet of American tv and films I’ve consumed over the decades but I thought things like comms and processes would be slick when it was anything but and at some times very, very flakey.
However, a great insight into that day and a worthy watch.

It's an excellent documentary and I thought GWB came out of it pretty well.
I’ve watched quite a few YT videos of Bush post presidency, and whatever you think of his politics, he seems like a pretty decent chap.I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this programme before, but thanks for the heads up as it’s something that you could easily rewatch due to the incredible footage.

They mentioned how the comms wernt great but no one had ever thought of this happening. There was no plan to follow. However, a great insight into that day and a worthy watch.
Internet really wasn't a thing in your pocket back then dial up mainly. I was the only person that went home from school for lunch that day and ended up telling the whole school as it was on TV. Crazy times.

I watched the first few minutes and have recorded the rest. I remember from the time he was told in front of the school kids - that bit I saw last night. How he kept his composure at that point is pretty remarkable - his head must have been all over the place. Those stills from the school really tell a hell of a story alone. The Gauge said:

I've seen this before but was glued to it again last night.
Likewise I think that point where GWB is told in front of a class full of schoolkids and has to keep his composure is one of the defining moments of my generation.
I went down a Wiki rabbit hole afterwards, incredibly Khalid Sheihn Mohammed is still held in Guantanamo Bay awaiting trial, 20yrs after being apprehended.

not reacting immediately, but instead he calmly sat there,
allowed the children and teachers to finish ther presentation,
thanked them and excused himself, the sign of a courteous gentleman IMO.
Thanks for the heads up, watching now on iPlayer.

Indeed, he was criticised by the usual suspects for being stupified by the news and
not reacting immediately, but instead he calmly sat there,
allowed the children and teachers to finish ther presentation,
thanked them and excused himself, the sign of a courteous gentleman IMO.
Indeed, a statesmanlike reaction.
