Any news on the release date and price? My next purchase will be in this category, I was holding out for the new RC390 or till the speed 400 came out, but I've been seeing leaks of this recently and its rather lovely.

Was it your wife's 390 that had condensation in the TFT dash? If so has it been resolved? The current KTM RC125/390 with the white fairing look fantastic to my eyes.

Not to suggest that a new Aprilia is a bad thing, but what's the point of this when you can have an A2-compliant RS660 which is only 8kg heavier? Price?

I have not seen anything yet on a release date but a price target of around 6k GBP it seems

Global motorcycle market?

It's a niche that if filled will result in sales and possibly people upgrading to other Aprilias? It's no different from fastback styled SUVs and things like the convertible Evoque.

Triumph had the A2 compliant Trident 660 but they're still releasing a 400cc single with Triumph styling cues that mimic larger Triumphs and help identify it's a Triumph.

Must be for markets where there's a step in licensing at 500cc or something?

Aprilia offering a bike of that size takes sales from competitors and gets buyers into the Aprilia brand.

Looks like a cracking little bike. If they price it correctly I’m sure it will sell well.

My son has an A2 restricted Tuono 660 (95 bhp before restriction); brilliant bike.
RS660 (standard, not Factory) has 100bhp out of the box. I do not think it is eligible for restriction as it is more than double the restricted limit.

depends on the price I suppose.
If they can knock this out for £7.5k or under, that's 25%/30% cheaper than opting for the 660. Anything above that then you are correct, you are in 1-2 year old 660 territory

It makes sense from a company standpoint: many other manufacturers are coming out with a2 license level bikes and the CBR500 proved it’s a popular model line it. It also makes sense it would bridge the gap they had in the lineup from the 125 to the 660.

Personally I’m looking forward to seeing how it stacks up against the competition as a new rider.

A colleague has a CBR500, it looks the part. I like the bronze coloured engine cases.

457 sounds like the most powerful hand gun in the world or some muscle car from Vanishing Point.

Yes, they say its an acceptable level but its still within warranty. I'll be taking it to get serviced elsewhere tbh, the garage in Glasgow couldn't be arsed. But what a fking tremendous bike.

It has a lot of competitors in that category, I assume it'll share the brunt of components that the rest of the field have to keep prices down.

It'd have to be £6k < for me to consider it.

Looks great. My only gripe with my cbr500r is the engine character. This has a 270° crank. If it was out when I was buying it would have made the purchase decision a lot harder.

I'm not a fan of TFT dashes though

I am assuming this will be a single, could be quite interesting if the price is right

Internet seems to indicate it's a twin.
