It never ceases to amaze me (just got back from France) at how many people put enormous UK Stickers directly on the paint work of their cars.

This year I put those very handy little stickers on my number plates and even they were quite difficult to remove. Surely a great big sticker that’s been baked on runs the risk of taking off the paint / lacquer on removal. Why wouldn’t you use the number plate stickers or at least put it on the window as I did last year.

Because most people are morons who don't think ahead. My 1 owner Xantia had a P&O Ferries GB sticker that looked to have been on from new - I wouldn't dare have removed that.

This. Why would anyone put an annoying sticker on their glass when you can use a safe magnetic one on the boot?

Safe until it gets grit and dirt underneath it, scratching the paint...

If it goes on clean paint, and doesn't move, would the grit and dirt still get underneath?

I would think the very same... but back when I was learning, I'd use L Plates with the fully magnetic backing. They weren't removed unless cleaning the car, and I'd often notice scratching underneath - I assume film of dirt on the car and rain, that's the result.

It's their car, let them do what they want?

The tailgates on both of my cars are composite. But apart from that it's a good plan. biggrin

More interesting is when it's clearly been on years and obviously isn't on straight, or not even on a flat bit of bodywork.

It always amazes me how some people have no pride in their vehicle at all.

Related point - I've seen quite a few 'new' number plates with the union flag on the plate but GB instead of UK - what's the deal with that as I think they still need a UK sticker?

Believe it or not but for a huge amount of people, cars are just transport.

Yes needs to display UK now and not GB which is what I have in my plates, so for my trip next year I will get the small UK stickers that go on the number plates, to remove you just apply a bit of heat and easily come off

I used to care, but now I find it hard to cherish an inanimate object. As long as it is clean on the inside then I’m happy.
