Hi

One of the headlights on my Peugeot 108 is not working. I am planning to replace them both but with those modern very bright headlights. Few years ago I bought these headlights from eBay hoping they will be bright but they weren't.

What are these bright headlights called? Will they work on my Peugeot 108?

Thanks in advance

Do you mean new bulbs not whole new headlight units?

Osram nightbreakers are the sort of bulb you want. Obviously check fitment for your car but should be available. Its an easy enough DIY fix.
OSRAM NIGHT BREAKER LASER H7, +150% more brightness, halogen headlight lamp, 64210NL-HCB, 12V, duo box (2 lamps) https://amzn.eu/d/e9j1bmL

My 2p.

Keep the original bulbs in the car when you replace them with Nightbreakers etc. The higher power bulbs will either last 1 month, 6 months or a year, but will never match standard bulbs for longevity.

I've had Philips and Osram extra bright headlights bulbs in our cars for years, can't recall a single bulb failure...edit,hmm might have had one Philips fail but couldn't be sure which car it was on.
A pair Osram truckmate 24v extra bright bulbs reside in my work truck, still going strong at 580k kms despite being used for extensive night shifts during that time.

I know some people have issues with extra bright bulbs not lasting, hint...i only use Philips or Osram due to a laughable failure rate from the other big player in bulbs when my then boss bought umpteen trays of the things back the 80's for a fraction of the Lucas equivalents, bargain, a standard artic tipper semi trailer had 8 side light bulbs back then, 9 if the number plate holder had its own bulb, a typical 300 mile day run could see up to 6 of those bulbs fail, some fizzling out even as we fitted them...we went back to Lucas.

I looked for it and found that Peugeot 108 needs HIR2 type bulbs. Will it come in night breaker Laser? Any link for it?

I've tended to go for Osram Nightbreaker Lasers when I've had to upgrade my bulbs.

There were apparently a number of counterfeit Osram Nightbreakers that were knocking about on eBay a couple of years ago, so it may have been those that had the longevity issues...

I've used Phillips and Osram upgraded bulbs since 2017 in my car. They don't last as long as OE bulbs. Obviously depends how much night driving I do, but I'd guess 18-24 months.

My dipped headlights are still rubbish as well. Upgraded from OE 'candle' spec I suppose.

Annoying isn't it, i replaced my 90 series Prado with a 120 series, headlights on the old model excellent on the newer model rubbish, i nearly cleaned an unlit builders skip up one night after owning it a couple of weeks which gave me a boot up the backside to get on with changing the bulbs, much better now, better still after a good polish with the 3M kit.

Can't answer why some have short lifespan from the brighter bulbs and others don't, i know my own cars run up to just over 14v when initial charging and the truck will peak at just over 28v, often wonder if its because some modern cars (mine are older designs) are a nightmare to fit bulbs so people inadvertanty end up either touching the glass or could droplets of moisture finding their way onto the glass from fingers struggling to fit yon bulbs be an issue.

Our Forester has HID bulbs, genuine OE fitments, i haven't upgraded those as plenty bright enough already but have you seen the cost of the bulbs?

Is it possible to get HIR2/9012 Headlight bulbs for Peugeot 108 that are very bright.
In the previous thread It was suggested to get Night Breaker Laser but they were not HIR2/9012

Thank you in advance

I should say that you aren't going to get "those modern very bright headlights" by upgrading from one Halogen bulb to another.

Bright modern headlights use HID or LED technology.

Yeah, I did think the same reading the OP.

No, as your headlight units are designed for Halogen.

You can get retrofit HID kits but they won't pass an MOT for the same reason. Also fitting is not as simple as changing a bulb.

By all means fit uprated Halogen bulbs but I advise you to keep a lid on your expectations for how much brighter they'll be, because the improvement will be marginal... and to maybe make sure your next car has LED headlights.

Thank you for replying. Ok so if there is only marginal improvement, then I will just buy a pair of cheap HIR2 Headlight bulbs (Halfords/eBay) and change them both. I can change headlight bulbs only and have no knowledge of getting retrofit HID kits or anything else.
Hopefully I will be looking into LED headlights when buying a car in future.

Thank you again.

There's a few to choose from here: https://www.autobulbsdirect.co.uk/hir2-55w-headlig...

Probably best if you post on the original thread to keep all the information in one place.

Technically no - unless you go mad, get LED projectors, auto leveling, the whole lot. - It would be cheaper to buy a car with them already fitted.

My old Focus used to burn up a set of Nightbreakers every year, I just accepted that I would only get 12 months out of the bulbs that had a higher output - Yes, I could have gone either OEM or I think its also Philips that make a longer life bulb, but with a lower light output. (Fortunately it took 3 bolts and the entire headlight came out, nice and easy to do.)

Have seen alot of cars recently with led bulbs in normal lights, totaly illegal and for good reason, cars built with them have auto level etc otherwise they blind everyone, , just put in the original bulbs,
If they arent bright enough, maybe an eye test is in order.
Even with a newer car behind you with all the systems for led, they can blind you, hate the things.

Osram night breakers are not LED. They are just more powerful filament bulbs.
