Essential guide to Glasgow!
Discussion
Some questions for the wealth of useless knowledge that oozes from these boards....
I have recently moved to the fair city of Glasgow to continue my life as a job-dodging student. (Scraping the barrel now as a postgrad...) I need to know some essential facts about this town: -
Where should I go for: -
1. a good pie and pint?
2. The best kebab? (the choice here is astounding!)
3. A half decent fish supper?
4. The best Indian? (again so much choice and so little time)
5. Chinese anyone?
6. All day breakfast for the morning after the night before?
7. Any other local delicacies that i really should sample during my time here?
All suggestions appreciated! Moonie

If your living in the west end of the city (Glasgow uni and where most students live), there is no end of fast food shops etc. There used to be a good all night place called "insomnia" but it shut down. If you want to try some nice food and your feeling rich, go along to the merchant city (get a taxi) where there is a good variety of nice restuarants. If you feel like clubbing, you can find loads up in Sauchiehall street which is at the top of town.

Yup the essential thing is to GET OUT AS FAST AS YOU CAN. seriously though you voluteered to come here? are you mad?
nevermind next question is what uni are you at?? (Glasgow or Strathclyde, or,gasp, Buchannon St. Bus Station High School, oops sorry I mean Caledonion uni
)
I've been at Strathclyde for the last 4 years so I know a thing or two about Glasgow but I know more about the east side. I know Feck and All about the west side.
1. Good Pie and Pint. hmmm well for lunch you could try the Counting House just off George Sq. I assume you've got a scaff fax (snap fax) then there is some deal on wednesdays in all weatherspoon chain pubs.
2. best kebab. hmmm I think that the best bet is Nicos in the west end just down the road from glasgow union (GU) if you know where that is.
3.Fish supper?? hmmm dunno I use my local which is in the suburbs so no use to you.
4.Curry. Try the Currie Noor (thats not how you spell it by the way) they do a fairly decent buffet but be warned they are not a take away.
5. Chinese? Oh god knows. who cares the curries are beter anyway.
6.All day breakfast? hmm dunno I don't normally wake up in the city centre.
7. Other stuff. get youself down to the BeerHalle. fantastic range of beers (if you like your beers like I do
) its opposite TGI fridays BTW.
Also go to Strathy union at least once and get totalled (but you know this you're a student after all)
Anyway thats just a little to get you started.
If you are at Strathclyde then you've probably seen me kicking about I'm the scruff with the ancient leather jacket and fleece on under it. I hang around the mechanical engineering common room a lot of the time.
