3.1 PCM/NAV speed limits
Discussion
Based on my 981 it is a static rather than dynamic speed limit.
I believe the cars that have it dynamically are using a forward-facing camera to read the road signs, advantage being it should account for temp road works/speed limits which may not be in any of the satellite technologies

Thanks, that is what I thought. I have just upgraded my maps, and now the 20mph limits locally here are showing. Trouble with static is that they will be out of date very quickly. The camera operated ones are far better - even the lowly Fords have them - come on Porsche, get your house in order.
Yes, that is a problem with the 'latest' maps - they are quickly out of date.
I read previously the latest map update is ~8 months old on release. When buying my 987, I asked OPC the price for a map update. The salesman told me most of his customers just use Google Maps/Waze, although nearly everyone still options the car with sat nav. I guess it's useful if you're driving on the continent without signal/international data. Clearly, it helps with resale too.
