In the time honoured tradition of booking the next holiday just after landing from the last we're off to Bilbao in November.
It was pretty much a spur of the moment thing based on wanting to visit the Guggenheim, and seeing as flights were £34 return it seemed daft not to go. rotate
So any tips/advice on what else to see/do/eat/drink?

Guggenheim is cool. Funicular railway is worth a trip.

Guggenheim was the main driver for the trip, even though we were in the New York Guggenheim last week and the current exhibitions there were very underwhelming, still a stunning building though.
MrsRace loves a Funicular, we seem to be doing a world tour of Funiculars, Barcelona's is quite good. hehe

I've been to Bilbao a few times, and it is great. However, filling up on food at the hotel is a bad idea - the food there is excellent! Particularly pinxos at bars.

We're not particularly 'foody' and I ran the idea of Pinxos past MrsRace and didn't get much enthusiasm, not really my cup of tea either, we gravitate towards an Italian no mater where in the world we are, luckily Italy is our 'goto' destination so there they just get called 'restaurants' hehe

Planning on going over the Vizcaya Bridge, and a trip to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe looks likely. rotate

Went last week, superb place, a refreshing lack of British tourists, great city, architecture, art, culture, scenery, value for money, great food and drink, cheap easy public transport, clean and safe, really impressed with the place.
We were a little worried that 5 days might have been too long, but that was dictated by the £17 flights but with a day taken by a tour to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe (that's a walk and a half) and San Sebastián, another very pretty place, we found plenty to do all week. cool
Would thoroughly recommend the place, we'll be back when the expansion to the Museum of Fine Arts has been finished in a year or so.

We had a few hours and an overnight in Bilbao last summer at the end of a road trip around the Picos with a group of friends. It looks a really interesting city, next trip we’ll spend a few days there.
