Rechargeable Pump and Jump Starter
Discussion
I just got one of these and it's great. Not cheap at 100 quid.
I have been using a wired pump for last 12 months and its really annoying having to plug it into the fag lighter which always comes loose in some cars and then you have to reset everything when you switch to the other side of the car. Prior to that I had a rechargeable Michelin pump which I'd been using for 10 years but the recharge system inside it died.
Also as I have a few cars they are regularly running low on electricity. I tried the jump start feature yesterday and it worked great. My BMW would not start on its own. I attached the leads to the terminals under the bonnet - the battery is buried in the boot. Pressed the jump start button. The car started first time once connected up. Battery charge of this new pump thing dropped from 100% to 65.

If you're going for a battery operated pump I think it makes to choose one with a separate battery. As an extra benefit when you choose a brand with a good product range you can share the batteries across all your tools.
I've seen those which look like a drill. No thanks. And the ones which dont look like a drill are expensive. Do these universal battery type devices also do jump starting?

Hey ATM, where did you get this from for £100?I`m looking for a quality jump starter that also has a compressor.
I like the look of your Durite but can`t find it for less than £145.
Also, how does it attach to the valve? Is it screw on or a proper valve connection?

Motor factor car parts place. Impulse purchase. Was in there ordering some bits and just spotted it. Can't remember exactly what I paid but think it was 100 or just over.N-Sport said:

Not sure what proper connection means? It's screw on. I like screw on.
Had it a while now and been using it regularly. Took a serious hit on battery power when i pumped up the tyres on my Sprinter. But they're big and 45psi. Doesn't sound like it's struggling over 40psi like other little pumps can.
Let us know if you get one.
UPDATE
This has now stopped working. The pump doesn't pump. If I try to use the pump it just kind of gets stuck. Not sure how else to explain. I press pump and nothing happens. Then I can't turn it off and on, so the display stays lit up. I tried letting it run down it's internal battery. Then it obviously powers down. I charged it and tried again. Same thing. No idea if I can get a replacement or a repair. Very doubtful I can find the receipt.

But it could be a lubrication issue with the pump impellers, in which case you could try suspending the air line higher and putting 3in1 down there and letting gravity do its work over a couple of days.

Durite stuff used to be very good. However, over the last 5-6 years, it’s become absolute dirge built down to a price. I hope you get some sort of warranty comeback. This has now stopped working.
