Had looked at these previously so was on the radar, but was rather surprised to see this from the local dealer. With the silly wait times, how is this possible? Has production been massively ramped up?!

It'll be a cancelled order I assume. Although how there isn't someone who's got that spec on the writing list is the strange thing!

Yep, I would have expected them to be giving an existing customer the chance of faster delivery first.

Would appear to be evidence they have more cars than buyers.

That's what I would have thought, but EmiraS, plural, got my attention!

Interestingly enough when I spoke to Colchester Lotus a couple of months ago about my son's order (He has now cancelled), the salesman told me that they had a couple of cars in stock. I asked him whether he was concerned about that and he said no he was confident they would sell. From memory they were up for sale at around £81K. Obviously things have moved on in a couple of months and like many dealerships (You just need to check out the Porsche forum here on Piston Heads to see bad the situation is) they have loads of metal that they cannot shift at present pricing.

When I popped into B&C a couple of months back they had 4 or 5 cars in stock. Cancelled orders presumably.

I don’t know how B&C are surviving at the moment - they’ve had stagnant new stock of Morgan’s too for quite some time (over 6months) but I’ve also noticed they are holding a few long term unregistered Lotus cars too.

Pleasant dealership so I hope things pick up for them.

If they couldn't find someone on the waiting list that would take it then I'd think that should be ringing a few alarm bells.

Impressive how quickly those lead times disappear.

It's really odd as they took weeks to sell and were held at the pre price increase so £6-7k saving!

Like you, the only reason I knew about them is I called them to chase up the i4 test drive - they didn't seem to be actively calling customers that had placed deposits.

When they hit 60k over winter I’ll think about getting one, as I was quite impressed with the V6 I drove.

OT but what was the i4 test drive news?

Could be a swing and a miss, but after the considerable amount of new cars selling for above list over the past couple of years, a lot of people may have just been buying cars like these with sole intent of just selling it on for a profit and created an artificially inflated demand that is now starting to correct.

At that point they assured me they were in production and they would have a car for me to test in July... since then nothing and Lotus HQ don't seem to know either.

Why would you even bother to buy new at all?????
As there is one on Facebook Forum 2023 2000miles £68k or it goes to Motorway in the next few days.
Someone else who commented got offered £48k as a trade in on a £150k purchase, taking the p or what.

Good luck with that!

I think the biggest issue is the tempting pre-release prices stated and people (like me) have got it in their head that represents their true value. The released price, since significantly increased, is so far apart it's massive detractor, tho in isolation it's undeniably a brilliant car for the current list price still!

£69,949 cheapest now available on Autotrader FROM A REPUTABLE DEALERSHIP in Nimbus with 2,400 miles on the clock. So you are buying with the sale of goods act protection etc etc.

Good little dealership (I've been there before looking at other things) with a healthy turnover of great and interesting stock. Can't imagine they don't have a £5,000 profit in that so trade price is now mid 60's.

Give this another year and i4's being available in the new colours and I think FE's will be down to mid 50's. Interest rates are not going to go down and 9.4% car finance from Lotus is going to make a lot of people's eyes water.
