I bought the smaller case sized Seamaster 300M (2252.50.00) back in 2003 as I was on a budget for my first "proper" watch.

It was worn as a daily for many years but the size always bugged me and I regretted not waiting and getting the 41mm version (2265.50.00). So, it has sat in the bottom drawer for the last 15 years...

After sporting digital throw aways and Garmins for many many years I fancy getting back into watch wearing and find myself wanting to start again with my original watch but in the 41mm case size.

Not sure whether to sell and go for something completely different, find someone in the opposite scenario and swap / p/x, live with small watch syndrome and buy a second to start a "collection" bearing in mind little seamaster will probably never see the light of day.

Anyone gone through similar? Recommendations for finding people in the second hand watch market?

Slightly unrelated point - what on earth has happened to watch prices, I wish I'd bought more watches 20 years ago irked

I assume based on a quick google that if it's in decent condition and has the original box/papers it should sell easily enough for £2-2.5k, so why not move it on and start again? https://www.chrono24.co.uk/omega/ref-22525000.htm#...

Lots of quality choice in the £1k or so bracket now so could swap for a couple of alternatives (Longines Hydroconquest/Mido TV BD etc.), change up to the larger model or go for something like a Tudor BB 41mm instead.

I have exactly this . . . with the same watch, bought in 2001.
I just started to wear it as normal.

Wear the old again and see how you get on?

Small is big again apparently.

Or, sell it and get the larger size. Still a stunning watch and sounds like it's the one you want.

The 2252 is awesome IMO.

Sooooo many choices if you want something larger, though.

Put the smaller one back one. Honestly it's fine - nobody needs to have a big watch or thinks anything bad about somebody with a smaller sized wristwatch.

It's a free watch innit.

It's a £2k+ asset that he's had in a drawer for 15 years as doesn't like wearing it.

Sell it and get something else you do want to wear is the only sensible approach, there's plenty of choice out there.

I did exactly the same in 1999, bought the mid size Seamaster in Barbados, and regretted it afterwards, so then sat in a drawer til about 2020 as it just looked too small. I incidentally traded it against another watch on Watchfinder and got the same price back as I paid for it in '99 so was happy about that. Now gone the other way with oversized Panerai and the like!

Cheers

It is a lovely watch, I'm just mentally up for a change. I think it's time to sell - Now the lovely job of researching a replacement begins :-)
