180bhp 730kg's

Prototype car.
There were 7 others built with gullwings and slightly longer wheelbase.
This is the only one with a removable roof and windows.
Engine is from another car, the rest is built from scratch.

Was about to buy a MK1 Elise but saw this and my jaw just dropped.
Bought it last week.
Get so much attention in it its unreal.

You like??
Gimme your opinions on what you reckon.

It is the Raffo belva proto?
What engine are you running?
How is it to drive?
If you want to sell it i'm interested.

You stalking me buddy??

;-)

Real deal??

Its like an elise in the way its been built.....in effect the elise is a kit car, from the engine to the indicator stalks all borrowed from another car.

This has an engine from another car but thats about it mate,

Harsh marki ! .... dont diss the mans brand new car

I quite like it, certainly different. Looks in VGC. More info please, for example what's the engine ? What's it drive like ?

"prefer the real deal" ... forgive ignorance, but is it supposed to be a copy of something ?

The car is not based on anything, designed from scratch, engine is a 2L vauxhall 16v GTE engine rated at 150bhp

Its had a lightened Crank, flywheel, some other internal work, K+N induction and stupid exhaust thats sounds so loud its needs sorting.

The whole lot brings it up around 180bhp.

What does it handle like?
Put it this way it keeps up with my mates elise on the twisties and totally roasts him on the motorway in a line too.

Can't say any better that that really!!

Goes like a rocket, built from new parts from the ground up apart from the Engine.

Nice one and with that sort of engine will absolutely P**S over any underpowered little Elise (Barring any decently modified ones)

Great Car, looks really well built enjoy!!!! You deserve it.

Marki - Way too harsh mate, Elises may have pedigree but they need a lot more horse power. If you ever get the chance to go out in a VX powered lightweight car - Go for it, an Elise will seem so tame afterwards.

Yup it is the Belva Proto....John Raffo built this car as a 1 off, never gonna sell it....lol

Well maybe in a year when I have kids, gotta do the interior first carpet the boot, and slot the cobra seats in there.
Should look sweet.

So you know the belva than bud?

Interesting to read it has a Vauxhall engine because it was originally running a Ford Zetec. And painted yellow.

For Marki's information it does have pedigree, although not quite in Lotus class, with the car's designer having previously designed at least one other car that - like the Elise - was highly rated as a driver's machine.

Have fun!

Raffo Belva - I thought there were a couple about... as Graham mentions, a Yellow one, which was for sale in "Kit Car" or "Which Kit?" or some such other magazine..

Just out of interest what's the insurance like?

Will try and look out for you at shows - must be a real headturner - was considering swapping my G27 for one.... Shame if there's only actually one in existence though..

Hmmm.... Had another look (duh!) so this one was the prototype and the yellow one, with Gull wing doors is/was the second prototype/actual build I guess..

Enjoy (I'm sure you will)

Very nice, red definately suits it, don't know what it would look like in yellow though. Happy driving.

Yea this one was the very first one and the ONLY one with the removable roof and windows, its also shorter the only parts they share are actually the front wings all the rest are slightly different shapes and sizes according to John, he built 7 others that were gull wing.

Space frame.

Need to strip it down to gain a proper idea of whats needs doing, it was built in 96 and its in good nick but still need to do it just so I know.
