This has been in the news last couple of days.

Surprised it took this long for the public to to start complaining and protesting to be honest, as this has been going on for years and steadily increasing. What is happening out there on the roads, in many areas of the country, is absolutely shocking.

Gone are the days when people mostly kept their roll racing/doughnuts/drag racing and other antics confined to empty industrial estate car parks at 2am, or deserted motorways. They now do it on high streets during rush hour, past schools, near pedestrians, round busy roundabouts, on packed dual carriageways, and so on. It is completely mental, with not one single fk given for the lives of other drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, kids, and so on.

This behaviour is being encouraged by many TikTok, Instagram and Facebook accounts which share daily videos of the racing and crashes. Have a look at moronic instagram pages such as Brums Rockets and Forza Birmingham to see what these clowns are doing night after night. Unsurprisingly Birmingham is one of the leading stholes to suffer this.

It isn't just the street racing epidemic that is causing deaths and injuries of course, it is the utterly dreadful standard of day to day driving which is also costing lives.

Also throw in:

The highest levels of drug-driving ever recorded.
Mobile phone convictions have doubled in one year.
Highest number of speeding prosecutions on record and rising.

It's all down to the complete lack of enforcement, they all know they can get away with it.

"for the public to to start complaining and protesting" Really? rolleyes This campaign will be about as grassroots as Extinction Rebellion or Just Stop Oil.

Just a new front in the endless anti-private-transport crusade.

Police in my county don't deal with traffic offences, that falls under the remit of a three-county combined roads policing unit, but they spend most of their time in one of the other two counties because it has the M1 and M25 in it. Never seen them in my city, so everything from parking on Zebra approach zigzags through to racing illegal vehicles at night on city streets gets ignored.

....and when they are caught, sentencing is hardly a deterrent.

Take this finger.

Already banned for DD
So no insurance
87 mph in a 30
Failure to stop & failure to report
Caused brain damage to one passenger and the taxi driver had a broken shoulder

Nicked on M40 later heading for Heathrow for flight to Bangladesh.

Prison for 4 years (so out in 2?) and 7 year ban.

Exactly.

Any sort of death by dangerous driving should be a mandatory life sentence with a min of 15/20 and a lifetime driving ban. Serious injury should be a lot longer more in line with GBH also.

Then, if there isn’t a lifetime ban anyone convicted of dangerous driving should have a license with a 3 or 6 point limit to trigger a totting up ban/revocation. They’ve proven they can’t be trusted with the responsibility of driving so keep them on a very short leash.

Then just need a harsher sentence for anyone driving once banned. Whether that is the vehicle confiscated if they own it, massive fines deductible from benefits/wages or custodial.

Yet look how many threads are on here with PHers convinced that they can't commit the most minor speeding offence or park without getting a ticket. They get caught every time they make a little mistake.

It does surprise me how many drivers behave like idiots on the road in full knowledge they are being filmed by numerous smartphones.

I think people driving like braindead morons is the bigger problem than tts drifting on roundabouts. You can't drive more than half an hour without some room temperature IQ halfwit bimbling across 3 lanes because they missed their exit at a roundabout or crawling out in front of fast moving traffic

Rather than blaming law enforcement, perhaps we should be looking more closely at family (or other responsible adults, and friends) who do not show younger people the correct way to behave in a society.

I'm not sure it's family. i think it's more how driving fast is shown on Youtube by the likes of Certi, by movies such as Fast & Furious, by how cars are seen as penis extensions by many of these brain dead morons.

I saw somebody reversing down the hard shoulder of the M3 earlier, near the exit of Fleet Services going South/West. Presumably, because they had missed it and wanted to return...bizarre!
