Recently got caught speeding and recieved 6 points and with my insurance coming along soon no doubt Im in for a steep increase - I usually scour the usual compare the market etc but In thinking a broker maybe the way to go so wonder if anyone has any recommendations outside the norm

Thanks in advance

Few years now but honestly 6 points didn’t make much of a difference.

Just try the comparison sites as usual.

If was close to the end then surprised you didn't find cheapest and start a new policy if fearing 6 points would be a massive change.
Seems to be the norm especially if camera and your not guaranteed to know or have had NIP yet.

Consider adding extra driving lights, tracker, parking sensors and dashcam etc, found they cut policy by 25% in the past.

A lot of people have points that cause little change but it depends on the offence. I had 3 points for an SP30 offence that had minimal (about £20) on my insurance, but to get 6 points, I’m guessing it was a more serious speeding offence?

A single offence of 6 points Will generally be loaded more harshly than 2 x 3 points
But as you say above just needs to try the comparison sites

That's interesting. In my very recent experience, my insurance company would accept no modifications at all, even ostensibly safety related modifications such as a hardwired dashcam or swapping to winter wheels and tyres.

They certainly made no mention of reducing my premium for same.

I had to replace my knackered wheels with after market alloys. Made no difference to the premium. A suppose a tracker might help lower it a bit, but then there is a subscription to pay....

Try a few comparison site quotes, was broker advice to someone I know, he wanted a big wing and bodykit but was a tad too high to stomach, he basically said get a cheap extra brake light, dashcam, DRLs, locknuts for aftermarket alloys and parking sensors on ebay to bring it down.

I would try and also think about some practical steps that might make you more acceptable to Insurers.
Adding a suitable named driver , limiting your annual milage etc.

I had 6 points (2 x 3 points to be precise) and going on a price comparison website it really wasn't too much more than if I had a clean license. Just don't lie about it and be honest!

Had 9 for a while and, whilst it cost more, it wasn’t an earth shattering number, and I could still find plenty of willing insurers.

My 6 pointer was in one hit but as I said didn’t make much odds.
