I live in an estate that is divided into two management boards, the board which I am on is solely in charge of some electric gates, entrance walls, the roadway and street lamps.

We need insurance but there have been several opinions on what type, obviously public liability is a minimum.

Two separate professional estate managers say the insurance should be the value of the rebuild costs of our section of the estate.

One insurance broker today said we only need public liability because no insurance company would insure street lamps, gates and boundary walls!

Putting it out to the sages of PH for some advice and tomfoolery!!! biggrin

I'm the treasurer for the residents' association of our private road. We have a policy with Aviva, covering £2m public liability, plus £30K for street furniture, which covers some ornate old pillars as you enter the road, and speed limit signage, other signage, etc. So that broker is talking bks.
