Hi looking for some advice please

Had a mot done today, it failed - Central Front Exhaust has a major leak of exhaust gases flexi.

Last year it failed on the front exhaust flexy which I managed to find someone to weld it.

I’m being told it can’t be welded by the garage and getting quotes of around the £800 mark for a whole new exhaust system which is out my price range as it’s just my run around car.

Any advice would be appreciated.

It’s a 2011 ford focus

That seems expensive, but ai haven’t ever bought an exhaust for a focus.
Why are you getting prices for the whole system if only the flexi section has gone then don’t replace the whole system unless you have to - often just sections (e.g.front, middle and rear) can be replaced.

My only otner suggestion is to phone round a few local exhaust places to get comparison prices.

I think I read that, but only on the OE system, so look at aftermarket.

Is it a MK2 2004-2011 or MK3 2011-2018?

If not, I would get someone who actually fixes things rather than replaces the biggest part to measure the exhaust & flexy & weld in an ebay replacement.

I done exactly that many times & each has outlasted the rest of the exhaust.

go to some powerflow /custom exhaust center and see if they can chop in a new flexi

my focus was all one bit from the manifold , when it needs repair you cut out the broken part and fit new sections , sounds a bit scammy that you suddenly need the whole system , theres enough focus's creeping about

Buy an Exhaust flexi ( that fits!) on eBay:

Had it looked at by couple garages it’s the cat that needs replacing part around £400 as if welded it’ll all need to come off to reach it as it’s on top. With labour quoted £960 absolute stinker

Kwik fit are pricing it up at 600 guessing that’s much more reasonable to be fair
