question regarding Ad Blue delete on diesel cars - when you get an Ad Blue delete done, do you need to drain the ad blue tank, or just leave what evers there?

You need to leave some in there for when DVSA or the Police dip your tank..

I have been driving for over 30 years with over ten of those driving a diesel. I have never even heard of anyone having this done.

It is fairly common for the police to dip a diesel tank to check for red diesel

Ad blue does not go in the fuel tank. It is in its own tank, it is injected in to the exhaust.

It's common for them to test for red diesel in areas associated with aggriculture or construction. I suppose they might also do it in areas associated with the haulage industry too. I've never heard of them testing the general public.

so, only in PH land.... red diesel? Police dipping for adblue?

So urban myths aside, does AdBlue go off, breakdown, do anything nasty if left unsused? Is it OK to leave whatever is in the tank, or best to drain it out?

For what reason are you deleting the DPF?

The question is about AdBlue delete... Not DPF.

There was a big vehicle checking operation in Oldbury last week and they were definitely checking the contents of tanks on normal cars.

...and in areas near navigable water too, random testing leaving the Dockyard here ...but if you had a boat, and didn't pop 'a bit of red' in your car from time to time, you must've be working for 'them' laugh

There is a red pump near us and the petrol station take your reg each time you use it and report that somewhere, I guess that could help the authorities to target cars to test. I asked if I could use it to buy diesel for my steam cleaner - they said yes but you may get stopped for a tank dip on your diesel car.

Did you ever get any information on whether the adblue should be removed from the tank?

A few years ago on holiday in Norfolk my Diesel Cavalier was tested by some official bod for red diesel.

That car is long gone now, but the best answer I got was that you need to leave some Ad blue in the tank otherwise you'll get messages to top up (why - if its been deleted???) anyway I left it as is and was fine during my onership.
