Has anyone connected an ipod into the standard head unit? If so what bits did you have to buy?

Whilst I haven't done so, it might be that this is what is required...

go on ebay and buy a fm transmitter thats shaped like a mobile phone car charger.

Its a digital one and has 4 different channels.

The quality is absolutely fantastic compared to itrip (my missus has one of those)i now ordered another 2 for missus and mother in law.

They go regularly for 0.01p with £5.99 postage from canada i think.

If you are around bournemouth and want to listen give me a shout

How did it go? I have an normal itrip and its rubbish - no reception due to the way the elise is made. Works perfect in my other cars!

I have this on my DAB54 (or whatever the standard fit is these days).

Basically charges the ipod (so no flat batteries) and you then control it through the headunit as if it was a cd autochanger. You create playlists which correspond to a CD slot if that makes sense.

Havent used it much in the lotus to be honest but have a similar set up in a bmw which i use all the time and works very well.

Was about to do this with my DAB54. I was advised not to do it unless the unit is very new (mine is dec 04) as the operating system on the head unit does not allow the full functionality of the i-pod. The blaupunct loom for the i-pod coast about £70 plus fitting. Then you need to think about how to secure the i-pod to stop it becoming a missle.

Thanks Junks, not sure what you'd call my car now? Exise or Elige perhaps. Maybe I should have bought an Exige in the first place?
