Any Orbital Fans in Here?
Discussion
I've been a huge fan since In Sides and have all their albums. However, I'm somehow only just now catching up with their release from Feb, Optical Delusion. Only 4 tracks in so far but it seems like there are some absolute tunes on it - it's still unmistakeably Orbital even though it continues to move on in style as well.
Seems to be hitting the mark much more than Monsters Exist, before it, which was largely a bit meh for me apart from 1 or 2 tracks.

I think In Sides will always be my favourite - it's the most cohesive as a whole piece. I used to use Out There Somewhere Pt1 as my go to test if I was ever looking at new hifi or ICE.
Oh and if I'm having a bad day or feeling particularly low, it has to be Lush 3-1. Can lift my mood in the first few bars.
Only seen them live once as the opportunities have often passed me by for some reason - but that one gig is right up there in my list of all time top gigs I've been to. I don't think I've ever been so absorbed in a set for 2hrs.

Sustained me through uni all-nighters when trying to finish off course work.
Although I do blame them for waking up on the floor having knocked myself unconscious.
Was dancing back into my room listening to chime and managed to jump up into the door frame. A loud bang, a flash of light, and I woke up on the floor
I initially thought my gas fire had exploded.
Wasn't aware of a new album... Thanks op.

Dirty Rat with Sleaford Mods is a good un.
I was aware of that and it's great. Was meaning to get the album and forgot to - this thread has prompted me to do so. I've loved them since Chime was in the charts but stopped buying their new releases after In Sides. The brown album remains my favourite.I'm just dissapointed that The Gun Is Good never made it on to any studio album or compilation.
Opdical Delusion is great, and I've been playing it too many times since it was released. I managed to get the special edition blu-ray in order to rip the instrumental versions from it (You Are The Frequency and Home work much better as instrumentals IMO)
The revised version of Satan on Thirty-Something is one of my favourite tracks.

I got into them quite late, around 1997-8 perhaps and enjoyed everything up until then. It took me a little while to fully appreciate The White Album, I liked around 3/4s of it initially but 2-3 tracks grated for a while but I have since 'got it'. The Altogether was where it fell apart for me, and I'm not sure how many of the releases I've listened to since then. Whichever genre I'm listening to I prefer longer tracks, so Orbital were a good fit in that regard.
..If we are mentioning none album tracks, Technologique Park is wonderful although deserved to be one of their 8+ minute epics.

Been a fan since clubbing early 90's and Chime. Brown album is just everything but there are standout tracks from each album, some indifferent but still worth a listen. Wonky album had 'Never' and 'New France'. I think my favourite of all is 'The girl with the sun in her head' which comes over amazing live as well, the Peel session at Maida Vale and Glasto sets are just epic.

Huge fan here, have been since the beginning. Halcyon is still one of my favourite songs from that era.
I think the Blue Album was the one that took the longest to get in to but on the whole, they're in my top 3 for electronic music. Can't see that changing as nostalgia keeps me coming back.

I was a huge fan from the Brown Album up until the The Altogether which was a bit meh, then came the Blue Album - which was terrible.
There was a brief respite with Wonky but I've found everything since then pretty dull. I've seen them countless times but at the most recent gig in Cambs back in April we left and headed to the bar area after about 30 mins and couldn't be arsed to go back in.
When they were good they were untouchable (In Sides is utterly sublime) but the good to bad ratio seems to lean heavily towards the latter nowadays.
I'm done with them.

Strange me too, loved them from the first time I heard Chime in 1990 and liked everything up to and including the Blue Album. After that though I've not been bothered, not even listened to the new album as the first single just put me off. The new track on the 30 Something compilation was awesome though (Smiley). There was a brief respite with Wonky but I've found everything since then pretty dull. As you say in their day they were brilliant live and saw them loads of times, not seen any of the recent live stuff though.
