I don't understand this, I would have thought that, because a lot of oil is still in the engine/pipework after use, the level would be lower! If checked when the engine's stone cold, the oil level in the sump is lower, I would have thought it should be the other way around, as all the oil has had chance to seep back into the dry sump! Why?

(Just had a mighty fine blast around the Mendips, roof down, always feel happier after a good drive! , but, as usual, no other TVRs around!!!!!!)

Just like everything else, oil expands with heat, so the level in the sump rises with temperature plus it gets aerated which will also cause it to rise

With a dry sump system, you also get a surge when the engine stops.

That's what my Tamora book says to do and that's what the factory and dealer said to do. I always get a reading of well over the max. I always check twice cleaning the dip stick each time to make sure. My Tuscan never used any oil and its looking like the Tamora will be the same.
