So... has anyone got it?

The game looks fundamentally sound... I'm not too sure about fictional tracks/cars though...

thankfully it's very mod-able. There is a "Spirit of 76" mod for it in progress and also a '93 F1 mod, with loads more.

I've downloaded it but not activated it yet... has anybody?

I've done the same for now, I'm not going to do anything with it until there are better cars and real tracks available.

I played the demo and was totally bored with the standard cars, which were some sort of Hondyotazda hatchbacks. PS2 style racing for cash to buy better cars in game doesn't interest me either.

There are single seater cars in the full game though FWD (an F3 and an F1 car), and you can jusr edit some file so that all cars are available to you and you don't have to bother unlocking them all.

With some good quality mods I think the game could be very good. I would love a 70s F1 mod Or a GPL mod for it. Or an 80s F1 mod. Or a 50s or 30s one.

Actually, a full on, say, 1955 mod would be amazing. Same for late 30s with carraciola and the auto unions and the mercedes.

Hmm... If only I knew how to do this stuff and had more free time...

ooo... or a Group C mod... the night time lighting effects in this game are great... Le Mans in the dark in those cars would be wicked.

Well it uses the same engine at GTL and GTR2 so good lighting effects, but no rain AFAIK.

I won't activate mine till there are some nice add ons though.

Downloaded and activated on friday.

As FWD says, fictional cars are not great.

Not sure about the modifying aspect of it either - although doing a few races without a wing and no LSD then adding them it's good feel the difference these things make to the handling.

Other than that all the configuration and gameplay aspects are very similar to GTR. Only real criticism i've got is the apparently ridiculous AI. The computer cars will literally smash through you if you stop on the racing line.

Just had another go and have to amend my earlier comment. The AI is apalling!

If you are slower than another car they will simply drive through you, usually smashing your wing off in the process and putting you out of the race!
