Travel Chargers

I am back facing some crazy travel, mainly Europe and the Pacific, and got back to wondering about travel chargers etc. My needs are fairly basic, MacBook, iPhone, iPad and headphones, the simple solution is a series of plug adaptors and a trusty GAN charger to take care of the lot.

The challenge I often have is the charger being secure in the plug socks of distant and dim hotels - are there any compact innovative alternatives to my simple solution above?

As long as you can charge your MacBook you can charge everything else off that, just take the right wires.
I"ve got a cheap and cheerful multi country thing as the plug adaptor - works fine wherever I go.

These days you can buy multi-USB devices (Standard and C) which also feature a UK socket - they have interchangeable plug heads depending on where you are. A lot more secure in the socket than a series of cheap adaptors.

I generally use a multi-port charger with a removable mains plug. Normally a figure-8 one. I get the appropriate figure 8 cable for each region. Then there are no worries about the charger being too heavy and pulling out of the socket

Indeed. I have an interchangable head for my macbook charger so can switch between UK, USA and Europe without having to have 3 chargers or some shonky chinese adaptor on the end.

Same with USB chargers, just get specific USA or Euro ones rather than a converter.

2x usb-c, 2x usb-a, takes up very little space and the mains plug is on a figure-8 lead so either take a euro/us one or a mains adaptor.

This. When travelling i yake single conveter, and a 4 way extension lead.

Also helps deal with hotel rooms with power sockets in silly inaccessible places, or just not enough of them..

We travel a lot and this is a constant battle. For ages I've used a multi usb port box with a fig 8 connector and an EU plug on the end. However, I've upgraded it twice as power requirements increase and now have changed direction completely as my latest one cant charge my Chromebook properly.

I now have a basic compact travel adapter with two usb sockets.

That covers low current charging (watch and ear buds).

Then I plug a compact high (ish) power USB charger into the travel adapter. That then charges my Chrome book (duet) at full speed which is essential as anything under powered can't keep up with it in use. It also charges my phone at turbo speed.

One small travel adapter, one small 33w charger, covers everything, and, will plug into all sockets world wide. All for £25 ish.
