I had two F10 M5's and now on my 5th F90 M5 Comp 2023 Ultimate, and one of the the very last of the F90's .
Way better than the F10 in every respect.

Can only echo the above.

Had 2 x F10's (the 2nd was breathed on by DMS so was a little fruity), but the F90 is better in every way imaginable.

Really is the perfect car at pretty much everything i throw at it.

Correct regarding Filters, but incorrect regarding Sound. It's defo quieter in Comfort setting (personally a good thing), but little difference in Sport Plus with the Valves open.

Many advantages to the LCi such as uprated suspension which by many accounts, transforms the ride/handling & a more modern interior with better UI with O/S7

Agreed and stealth will save unwanted attention in towns etc.

Not direct swap from F10 M5 to F90 M5, but out of all the M5s I had (E39, E60, F10 and F90) the F90 is the best by a fair margin. A very very special car, that does the limousine trick as well as the rabid animal equally well - mine being pre-LCI and pre-OPF and non-Competition probably had the “best” sound for an F90 but would have happily taken an LCI Competition, if I had to do it again.

Do make sure you don’t get a “poverty” spec (they are all well-equipped as standard, in fairness), full leather + alcantara headliner and if possible Bowers & Wilkins makes a huge difference.

Hi, an update on my situation. Originally, I advertised my F10 on the original post here and I received 3 asking price offers in 2 days. I had secured a F90 Comp as well with Sytner (below)

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202309252...

However, I decided not to sell, I have just renewed the BMW warranty for one more year. The F10 is clearly in demand if you have the right spec etc and I decided to keep. The F90 is good but I can’t warrant selling mine for 22-23k and 54k for the newer one. They are dropping like a stone, I will wait another year or two.

I can’t imagine my F10 loosing much more value in the next year or two. The F10 clearly suits my needs at this moment of time, I didn’t fancy parting with 54k when it hit the crunch.

I'd concur with this, higher value cars generally not in high demand at the moment (I'm in an F90 and know I would not get a good price if selling now). Enjoy your next year with the F10!

Only thing I would say is you don't know what you're missing!

Hi OP - I have done similar. I went from a F10 Comp Pack (2016) to an F90 (2019) without the Comp Pack, having had the E60 and a E39 prior to that.

+/-'s below.

Transmission - F10 gearbox (DCT I believe) was OK. F90 has a much nicer 8 speed automatic box which makes it leave better. 4WD makes quite a bit of a difference to turn in, I found the older car to be a bit more pendulous on hard turn.

Performance - F90 Generally seems to pick up speed faster. The TC doesn't come on as regularly it seems in the F90

Cabin - F90 Interior is certainly more "jazzy" with colorful lights, I would even say a little gaudy WRT certain things like the gear lever, digital screens etc.

Sound - Exhaust note on the F10 was louder (and unswitchable) for sure. Almost embarrassingly loud on start up. The 2019 has a button so you can do pops and bangs if the need takes you. I have a HK stereo which is OK but not amazing, older one was HK too but a bit better.

Fuel economy there is a bit of a improvement in the F90 and it feels like a slightly smaller tank. Rear tires haven't been easy to find recently, well certainly rear 20" PS4s's perhaps that due to the PS5s.

Overall its certainly an improvement.

So The F90 isn't 4wd in the traditional sense.
Drive is only sent to the front wheels in certain conditions.
The main one being the start of slip at the rear wheels.
Hence the lack of obvious TC interference.

F10 traction appalling, completely different planet in theF90

Slightly off topic, facelift F90 M5’s seem to be in the early to mid-60’s. Early 60s now buys you this M8 GC, anyone been in a Gran Coupe M8? The interior seems sublime and I know the whole thing about engine and transmission being the same, is this packaged in a better and a meaner aggressive body? Any experiences will be appreciated.

Boot was tiny for my requirements and the car was too long longer than the M5,

I’ve gone the other way, had a 2020 M5 when living in the states a couple of years ago, was a sublime machine. However, still deprecating like a stone so I decided to buy a 2016 M5 best one I could find with 17k miles and totally standard for £31k. I am very happy with it!

So an update on this thread, initially I wanted to sell my F10 and jump into the F90 M5, then I changed my mind…There was something stopping me, the F10 hit the sweet spot and the F90 wasn’t making me want to make the move I think….

Anyway fast forward a month, sold the F10 this week to a happy buyer. Amazing car the best I have owned and after 5 years of ownership I got the same monies I paid for it in 2018.

Now onto the new, M8 Competition Gran Coupe, 21 Plate. Technology Pack and Comfort Pack Plus, Bowers Wilkins, Auto Driving, Rader cruise control, side and rear blinds and many more other options to say the least. The thing looks so menacing, different to all other BM’s, big, wide, and low slung, everyone on YouTube mentioning it’s the best-looking BMW in the current range. To mention the interior, Nappa leather everywhere and quilted leather giving it a Bentley feeling. The centre console and dash making it more special. Not driven it never been in one but hey picking it up on Monday.

Best of all 21 Reg under 20k miles and same price as a F90 M5 on a 21 Reg and 20k miles. Anyone have any experience with these cars? BTW Boot is small that doesn’t bother me as we have another car, we use for shopping etc. This just felt special and made me do the move…

Congrats BM I'd have a M8 over over the M5 in a heart beat if I didn't have 2 kids and all the kit they come with. What's the initial impressions? This thread is light on pics lets see before and afters?

Thanks Bud, few things stopped me from moving over the F90, I found the F10 was very curvy and I know its subjective but the F90 looked bland outside and I was going to pay double the monies for much better interior and an X-Drive system? The Mrs and the kids always told me why you buying that car it looks the same as yours smile

However the M8 different level, the stance and the silhouette is unmissable, super car type like an Aston Martin from the rear and 3rd quarter angle. The interior is something else and the rear seats are massive but only cater for two but it perfectly fits our criteria. I only do 3k miles a year and this is the prefect car, unmissable, striking and the rarity factor made it special. I've never seen many on the road and I live in an area where Ferraris, Porches, M5s etc. are quite visible.

Deposit paid, its in prep picking it up this Monday, train ticket booked traveling from South to the Midlands to collect. Main dealer etc.

This is what I mean by the unmissable Silhouette M8 GC, It might be marmite to some but to me it looks phenomenal:
