Just Received my Car back from a Successful Warranty Claim and also an excellent Car Loan period as well.
Many Thanks to my Main Dealer for comming through in the End.

However, Driven the car for less than 10 Miles and the Oil Pressure Gauge is Moving from 2.5 to 5.
Sometimes the Red "Error" light illuminated.

Obviously I am not using the car now and will have it Transported to my Main Dealer early Next week.

This is only happening under Fast Acceleration though.

I have Just filled the Oil Level up again and it Seems to have Stabilised.

Is there anything I should be asking My Dealer on Monday Guys ?

What Could the Problem Be ?
Also Is this a common Problem ?
(Ref : I have not experienced this problem before)

My car uses the oil as per the Maserati Booklet so is this a case of a little low oil or is it a more serious matter ?

Many Thanks Guys for any info on this query.

What did your oil pressure guage show before? Mine is almost always hard over on 5 bar except at tick over with a hot engine in which case it drops to four. I am reassured this is normal.

Looking through its history I can see that during one service Maranello investigated "erratic oil pressure and intermittant check engine light on." They replaced the oil pressure sensor (£44.19) and 2 oxygen sensors (£144.97 each).

Its also Dead on 5 except when started when it normally shoots up to 5 immediately.

I have put oil in and the Pressure has more or less stabilised but there is now only a slight movement of the needle.

The oil presure gauge was doing just that on my Merak.Looking at the history a new sender had been fitted 12 months b4. In the end put a test gauge on the block and pressure was fine. Maserati want £95 for a sender so went to the local motor factors but couldnt get a sender with a m12 1.25 pitched thread so purchased a sender with a m10 1.5 thread and made up a s/steel bush up for it. Toal cost £22 and perfect oil pressure.

Mine is also always hard over on 5. However, I did have one journey where after about 40 miles when I stopped at roundabouts the pressure dropped to about 3.5 to 4. It's only ever happened on that one journey and never happened since.

The only annoyance I have is that when moving briskly usually on the motorway, the bonnet warning light flickers on and off. Does anyone else suffer this distraction, just at the point when you need to be 100% focussed on the road?

That flickering bonnet light sounds like a dodgy wire to the plunger sensor that is being blown abot by the slipstream at speed...

Off topic a bit but doesn't it seem (certainly from my experience) that a lot of probs on Masers arises from faulty sensors?

Is there not a better sensor manufacturer that could be used to replace ALL the sensors...?

Glad to find out it was a faulty Sensor.
