Never bought a Porsche before but briefly, am I correct in thinking that 50Kish is an acceptable independant dealer price for a FOPCSH 2001Y 996 Turbo with all the toys and thirty odd thousand miles? Just trying to get a good feel for where the numbers should be...

Thanks - A.

That sounds pretty good.

Worth checking autotrader.co.uk pistonheads.com/ads and porsche.co.uk for other cars on the market and see how thhey compare.

Sounds a little expensive, but all depends on the condition of the car.

I think they have to start to level out soon as mine is a 2001 and I have been offered over £50k for it with 40k plus miles on it and no sat nav. All depends what you want and generally you get what you pay for - some warrentys are rubbish so you could pay a bit more and get peace of mind.

The used car market seems to be rubbish at the moment with the same cars for sale for ages. Once the new turbo is out I would imagine the 996 TT 's will find a price then hold around there but who knows.

I would spend a bit more and get one with an X50 pack on if I was you as they seem to be holding their money better.

Why does the X50 pack hold up better and what does it offer apart from the extra 30 or so horses?.

I've just picked up an 02/52 with 13k.......It absolutely flies. A far far better car than I ever gave it credit for.

Oh and gave £51k for it in case you were curious. Thats value...

Closest I can find is an 01 (Y) with 22k miles on it with loads of options (inc sat nav) for £53k on a private sale.
Where did you get yours from?

Most noticeable difference is the improvement in the torque curve

Its also the most expensive option on the list for the car, and any option that adds £8k or so to the cost of the car new is going to help / make it more desirable come resale.
Also remember that there are lots of turbo's for sale at the moment, but not many have the x50 option, so its bound to help these cars.

From a main OPC.

The mystery continues...

vpr do tell us your source as we are curious. I am also worried about mine in 6 months! Not that I want to sell it anyway as I love it even if some days I weakon and think I will get a 360.

Ok I can see I've put the cat amongst the pigeons here and I feel slightly guilty for scaring some of you.....Please accept my opologies......Here goes.

Bad bits (possibly)

The car is an import albeit a C16 spec... (not so sure whether being and import holds as much stigma as it once did)

It has had 3 owners (Last owner did 100 miles in the yr that he owned it)

Scatch on front wing

Wheels kerbed

No Sat Nav

Good bits:

It is a genuine 13000 mile car with full history.

No previous accident or local repair/paintwork

Disirable colour (Seal Grey/Black...not my favourite)

All said it still reepresents stonking value....
