As above

Any recommendations for a good air compressor and line / tools for basic garage usage (tyre pressures, some tools etc)

Ideally portable as won't be fixing a line to the wall or anything like that

Budget c£300-£400

Cheers

You need a pretty big compressor to run most airtools, so not sure how portable it will be.

A have Abac 50l compressor which is on wheels. This has the biggest pump I could get on a 13a plugtop. I have fitted it with a 100l receiver, so 150l in total, but it still isn't really any good for airtools. Enough air in the tanks, but the little compressor can't really keep up.

I reckon you either need twin pumps on a 16a supply or go 3ph either way it's not going to be very portable.

No worries. Scrap that idea then laugh

What about a compressor to do the basics then?

I would do a bit of research on the difference between direct drive and belt drive. Then it's down to what you want to spend. £100 will get a cheap direct drive and £400 will get you a branded belt drive.

If its just for tyres, a bit of compressed air for cleaning and you want it portable 25l would probably do. If you can put up with a little less portability I would go for 50l.

I bought a little hyundai silent. It's fine for blowing up tyres, doing leak down tests, popping pistons out of calipers does me fine.

That's what I've been looking at on Amazon...

Which airline and tyre pressure tool did you get if you don't mind me asking?
