Damage following work carried out
Discussion
Back in May, I had some major repair work carried out on a caravan I own by an independent mobile repairer. Due to the nature of the repairs the wheels were removed and unbeknownst to me, were placed inside the caravan. Whilst the repair was acceptable, on payment I hadn't noticed that there was damage to the floor inside caused by the tyres being left on the surface (it's left a permanent mark of the sidewall writing in the flooring approx 15cm long in a prominent position).
Since then, I've had multiple exchanges by text message, he saw the damage back in July but has kept saying that he's awaiting delivery of the flooring as he's planning to make the repair. I'm nearly 6 months on without any resolution and I'm at the point where I'm considering if I have any other options.
He's got a good reputation locally so I've given him the benefit of the doubt, but I know it's a big and time consuming job to strip the van out to replace a floor so can understand him trying to avoid it.
Any advice offered?

what flooring is is and what is the damaged? An "indentation" or a stain from the rubber?
Sounds quite odd!
Yes. An indentation sounds unlikely and surely with the right solvent a stain could be removed.Sounds quite odd!

If the interior fittings all need removed to allow the replacement of the flooring what is the chances of something being damaged during removal or re-installation? Especiallyas the guy doesn't seem keen to do the work anyway.Since then, I've had multiple exchanges by text message, he saw the damage back in July but has kept saying that he's awaiting delivery of the flooring as he's planning to make the repair. Have a look at this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UtiX0a23eY
The flooring goes in before the walls are even attached, let alone the furniture.
So any repair (laying over?) would create issues around sealing edges at fittings not present in the original.

What a stupid design. Like laying the carpet in your house before you build your walls. So you can never change your flooring in your caravan, even if the lino wears through? The flooring goes in before the walls are even attached, let alone the furniture.

You could send a "letter before action" (plenty of templates online, no need for a lawyer) giving him 14 days to respond - saying that you will get the work done elsewhere and recover your costs from him.
Then get it done elsewhere and do a moneyclaim online, having got more than one quote.
I am not a lawyer.
