I use a wash and wax all in one shampoo with my jet washer, should this protect the paint?

It should protect it from the cotton wool but be gentle with the cling film.

Always remember to check the OP's previous threads in these cases wink

This is the same poster who previously complained about "Daddy" cleaning his car using just a watering can, an old bucket & cloth to remove all the "dust" that was over it rolleyes

Plus the thread about supposedly losing an old phone in a car they'd just sold and what would happen if someone got hold of it.

I would be making your council aware of the colapsed drain.
There should be a form on the council website to let them know. Drain will be fixed .
You will just need to take the hits until you get the council to fix the drain.

To me my posts are just normal, I’m someone who seeks reassurance In a lot of things mainly because I don’t have many people to ask in real life and when I do ask I receive the same kind of reply as this, but what would I get out of making stuff up? I understand where you’re coming from and I also find it hard to tell what’s real and fake on the internet. If people think I’m doing this for fun or whatever then I won’t post here anymore

Report the damaged drain to the council so it might get repaired and find a road cone or 2 and stick them over the drain so drivers will hopefully avoid it.

Obviously complain to whoever you rent the space from and see how far you get.

Thanks for your reply. Do you think my car constantly getting splashed by water from the road could damage the paint?

I'd say it's unlikely but possible,
depends how dirty the water is and what is in it which might also be getting splashed onto the paintwork

all our cars have sat out in all weathers and been splashed many times, sometimes left for months without being cleaned, they have always cleaned up fine and the only damage to the paintwork they've suffered has been due to obvious scuffs and scratches caused by carelessness (usually other people in car parks etc) and bird droppings that have been left too long before being cleaned off.

If you're worried then perhaps invest in a decent car cover till you can get the drain fixed or find a better parking spot.

Of course there will be grit and all sorts in the splash water, drive down any major road where people park outside their houses beside the road, within hours their cars are caked in filthy water.
If it doesn't get fixed within a few weeks it will be getting the mother of all salt baths all the time its parked, that grit will seep into every crevice and in a short time paint scratches/chips will not be the major worry.

Personally i wouldn't want it right beside a road whether the drain was fixed or not.

No. Try living on the west coast of Wales, or any other Zone 4 of UK rain map.
Stone chips, thrown up from other vehicles, are the most likely to cause damage to paintwork. You can never stop those.

I was about to say that's un-neccessary, but it's an early-2000s silver Mercedes so maybe not laugh

Yes complain to the council. You are more likely to get something done quickly if you make them aware of the danger to cyclists rather than splashing your car.
