I hear this is a friendly place! I'm mulling over the possibility of a Cerbera but I'm not yet ready to take the plunge. I therefore don't want to waste a seller's time by looking over their pride and joy or their dealer stock. Are there any owners near Perth who would be open to showing me round their car, pointing out bits to look for, and generally giving me their opinion on engine variants etc?

I've been on here a reasonable while so make your own assessment as to whether I fall into the loony camp...

TIA

Clearly you do fit into the loony camp - you're considering a Cerbera!! hehe

Sorry, I don't know anyone around Perth with one but hopefully someone will pop up soon.

Thanks Rob - I haven't seen one around here for ages but I'd be happy to travel a couple of hours each way if an enthusiastic owner is lurking. I guess that would expand the area to include Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. I keep telling myself that my daily driver's lack of driving aids (no ABS etc) might serve me well. But as it's a Defender I suspect the only other thing they have in common is their approach to panel gaps!

Do you mean Perth Scotland or Australia?

I know Cerberas are quick, but 'a couple of hours' from Perth (Australia) to Glasgow, Edinburgh or Aberdeen would be pushing it a bit!

Funny that you should mention that coz I visited Simon Quinby in Perth, WA (MrNiceGuy351) in April, to see how he was doing with his rebuild. laugh

There are a couple down here in and around Edinburgh. I dont think any of them use PH though...

I know of both a 4.2 and a 4.5 V8 down here but not any speed six cerbs. Plenty of other TVRs with speed sixes locally though if that was your preference.

Would it be worth joining a TVR club to find out when meets are happening? If so, which one?

To be honest the car club doesnt do much around central Scotland right now. Regions further North and a towards the West are more active. This months Sprint mag may be useful for you though.

The locals around Edinburgh are active and Im sure you would be welcomed with open arms, we just don't orginise in any official format... yet!

My folks are just south of Edinburgh and I'm in the west a lot, so I'd be happy to travel. Would you mind letting me know when there's a gang getting together anywhere and I'll pop along? I can also do the north east as Perth to Aberdeen is pretty easy. Cheers.

Late reply but I have this one (4.5) just outside Aviemore if you want a look. A nice drive to the Highlands from Perth smile

There's usually a run around Scotland. We met them on the run when we were in Loch Lomond last year

The power of PH... a huge thank you to bigblock for showing me his incredible Cerb on Friday and giving up precious time to a TVR wannabe owner. Classifieds browsing has ramped up a level!

It was well worth it to see the huge smile on your face when the engine fired up smile

Yep. Well I think that was actually alarm I was showing rather than joy - but it hit the right spot. What an incredible noise and feel. It felt alive! I feel that giving you the keys to my remapped Defender was definitely a poor second prize and thanks again for the diet-busting bacon sarnies. Mrs w1bbles is bought into the plan and when I described my non-resonated Milltek RS6 as sounding very ‘meh’ in comparison she got all interested…
