Two NIP's in two days
Discussion
Drove up North to see family & friends last weekend from Midlands, M1 most of the journey, picked up one on the way up and one on the way back down, both automatic camera device. No excuse other than have done this journey many times over the last 20 years and never had a single NIP on the M1.
83 in a 70 on the Northbound between 39&40
94 in a 70 on the Southbound between 32&31
Hoping to get a speed awareness course from the 83 & expecting to get a hefty fine & points from the 94.

Assuming that you haven't done a speed awareness course in the last 3 years you should be offered a course for the lower speed. 94 is in the range for a fixed penalty of 3 points and £100 so as long as you don't mess around and just respond to the NIPs naming yourself as the driver that's what should happen.
You can ignore anything that you see online about "Band A/B fines"" as this only applies if things end up in court (and that won't happen if you just return the NIPs in time with your details).

Would be very happy with that outcomeYou can ignore anything that you see online about "Band A/B fines"" as this only applies if things end up in court (and that won't happen if you just return the NIPs in time with your details).

Ignore nonsense on the internet about "new" speeding fines.

As have I but not in a while, any clue if they front/rear facing, average speed?NFT said:

The 83 was West Yorkshire Police and they had a website I could type my PIN into to see pictures (camera captured rear of my car) and admit I was the one driving.94 was South Yorkshire Police and they are old school, have to fill out a form and post back to them.

Thank you for your response, again would be happy with that outcome. Lesson learnt, there is no way of knowing if the speed cameras on the M1 are watching or not as there was no variable speed limit signs in either direction94/70 is usually a £100 fixed penalty with 3 points.

The bright yellow HADECS 3 cameras must have been around for at least 10 years now, how are people still getting caught by them? Stick the cruise control on 78 and just leave it!
This is the bizarre thing, I've done this journey 4 or 5 times a year for 20 years and never been caught once until last weekendSuperNads said:

The assumption was always that they were only on to enforce the variable limits. Seems that someone realised they could make a few more quid by leaving them on permanently

Iits all about revenue generation now.
Do 50,000 miles per annum and never seen so many speed cameras EVERYWHERE.
I'm very very sensible as cannot afford to lose licence but all it takes is a moments loss of concentration and zap.
Don't enjoy driving at all anymore and I'm a nervous wreck TBH

Why on earth would anyone ever assume the camera wasn't watching? On the M1 and the like, I just cruise at an indicated '70 and a bit' and feel reasonably happy to be making fair progress.

Just pondering.....
If the OP has a current 'clean sheet' and was to post back both NIP's to the respective offices at the same time, could both forces assume no other offences and both offer brain washing, sorry, speed awareness courses?

Possible, no idea if each force would be aware of parallel actions or if be revealed later by some shared record??If the OP has a current 'clean sheet' and was to post back both NIP's to the respective offices at the same time, could both forces assume no other offences and both offer brain washing, sorry, speed awareness courses?

Do insurers even know if been on SAC/MAC unless you tell them?
One could also possibly do a SAC and another Motorway awareness course, I know of people who never replied and heard nothing at all, one though intent wanting to go to court and one having forgot to change address on logbook and been told months after arrived by previous neighbors.

I suppose it would be worth knowing if this wasn't possible. If you were sure that couldn't happen I presume it would then make sense to post them back in the order that meant you attended the course nearest to you. Are they conducted in the area the offence occurred or is there some sort of national programme? If the OP has a current 'clean sheet' and was to post back both NIP's to the respective offices at the same time, could both forces assume no other offences and both offer brain washing, sorry, speed awareness courses?
