Continuing my 'obscure model companies' theme I found German company Artitec:

https://www.artitecshop.com/en/

A remarkable range of resin models there.

(Plastic models used to be called plastic models; when did they start calling it resin?)

They’re two different things. Plastic models tend to be higher volume injection moulded types, resin lends itself to low volume where expensive tooling is not required and very high surface detail can be achieved. However the tooling has limited life and the parts can be difficult or fragile to handle, prepare etc and the process is much less automated.

What a curious range. Here’s a model I didn’t know I wanted - a half-track drag-line.

The resin parts you’ve shown aren’t out of a mould, they’re UV cured 3D prints.

The stuff that was commonly sold as ‘resin’, for things like 1:43 car models or aftermarket detail parts for aircraft is a two-part resin that is poured into a silicone mould.

Yup, that's the kind of thing I think of as "resin" in relation to scale models.

I'll see your half-track drag line and raise you a liquid manure spreader biggrin
