Quick question for the masses…

I’m looking at upgrading a Propel Advanced 2 Disc. It has the hydraulic disc set up but mechanical 105 gears.

May I ask what is needed to introduce Di2 to the bike and keep the current brake set up? Assume if need new shifter system but then how does the hydraulic lines integrate?

Thank you in advance!

Yes new shifters required plus new front a rear di2 mechs and associated battery and cables. The shifters will have the hydraulic master cylinders built in as your current shifters have but with the electronic elements for the shifting. The upgrade isn't going to be cheap. You'll be buying a good half of a full groupset. The expensive half at that.

You may find it easier to sell your entire Groupset as one and buy another one. I reckon it will be cheaper for you overall

Agreed or even sell the complete bike and buy model that already has it fitted, could work out cheaper.

Your going to be around £600 or more just for the STI shifters plus only 12speed available now so everything will need to be replaced.

this was my thinking and instead i bought a new wireless bike on C2W and sold my used one for tidy sum...but it was at the start of the nice weather; probably the wrong time now

I went from mechanical Di2 to 105 Di2 on my TCR. I got the 105 Di2 groupset for just over £950 and got £300 back by selling the old mechanical groupset on eBay, so whilst not cheap it's not as horridly expensive as I first thought it might be. I just changed everything over because buying it in parts would have cost even more.

Thanks people, your comments much appreciated.

I guess the bike replacement makes the most sense, but I'm not that committed to Di2 to justify the cost.
