I know it's not watch related but not sure where else to post.

Wifeys special birthday next year and she has requested an emerald necklace (not pearl unfortunately) and would like a few recommendations of where to look to purchase this, price wise thinking £2- 2.5K.

Any help appreciated as don't want to end up just buying a necklace for 2K'ish and it's rubbish as I know absolutely nothing about jewellery or stones.

TIA.

Unless she’d really hate the idea, I’d definitely suggest pre-owned / vintage. Far more for your money and (personal opinion) better colours and lustre.

This is my favourite shop in Hatton Garden, although they don’t seem to have any emerald necklaces listed right now:

Worth wandering around, window shopping, asking in reputable places!

Another option is to design one together and get it custom made. That way she’ll get exactly what she wants and it’s a bit more personal/special.

There’s a guy on this very forum that does this kind of thing and seems to be highly recommended.

If you can get to London get yourself to David Ashton Jewellers in the Oxo Tower. Helps if you make an appointment! https://davidashton.co.uk/ordering/.

He'll make you something to your specification and budget that'll be unique to your wife but in his very clean aesthetic.

Edited to add a link.

Emeralds can be more expensive than diamonds.
Having done a recent similar purchase your budget is tight but achievable. I looked all over the country with work and then ended up at the best local jewellers who are Michael Jones in Northampton who I can thoroughly recommend though it is bought in the quality will be top drawer however as with diamonds you really need to see the pieces due to the colour variation and size.

second David Ashton.

Just got another ring for my wife, and the care and attention from him and Nicola is amazing. Another lovely ring as well.

the only downside is she's now lining up a pair of earrings.
