I'd be grateful to anyone who's got the appropriate kit if they could post up a picture of the same subject using a 15mm and a 20mm lens on 1.6x crop factor sensor.

I'm not interested in content or composition (a landscape and maybe a car from about 20 feet would be useful), just want to see the difference in the field of view.

Not got a prime lens, but I can take a shot with my 18-80 at about 20mm, if that's a help (I've got a D70)

Is that going to be any help?

Thanks for the offer but ideally I'd like the same thing shot from the same place but with the different FLs.

I've been offered a good deal on a 15mm and I'd like to see just how much wider it is than the 20 I've got.

Seeing as no primes have appeared in 14 hours, this may help (actually probably only a little - but hey).

two pics from 5 yards (D2x) 1st 17mm - 2nd 22mm

Not a perfect extrapolation to 15 & 20 I know, but a fairly decent indication (from about 4 yards perhaps?). I'm sure someone clever like Simpo will be able to give you the numbers, but I reckon you'll get about 20% more field of view (quite a lot!)

Thanks Steve, consider me grateful.

Although not the exact comparison, it's evident that the difference would be significant enough to justify the acquisition..!!!

I have a 12-24 Nikor so could shoot at both focal lengths for you if you want - but I think it's fair to say an ultra wide is well worth having especially with the x1.6 factor.....

That would be cool, yes please.

I have 20mm but rather than just shell out on yet another piece of glass becuase I like shiny things, I thought I'd try and be (a little bit) objective and see if it was something I'm likely to use.

Does this help?

www.sentechamerica.com/calculator.htm

Seems to calculate the field of vision if you give it three out of the 5 things.

Just seen the thread - I can have a quick go at it this evening with my 10-22 on a 20D if you want to.
