P J O'Rourke famously wrote|http://www.nationallampoon.com/flashbacks/how2/how2.html "Name me, if you can, a better feeling than the one you get when you're half a bottle of Chivas in the bag with a gram of coke up your nose, and a teen-age lovely pulling off her tube top in the next seat over while you're going a hundred miles an hour down a suburban sidestreet"

For me it would have to be:

Pointing a rumbling great V8 on US 50 from Utah into Nevada (see Road Trip USA|http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1566913969 for alternatives) as the sun goes down and it's still 35ºC outside, with a beer buzz going, the Valentine one stuck to the windshield right in front of your eyes so Highway Patrol cruisers light up the directional arrows since you can't hear the warning beeps with Springsteen's Nebraska turned way up, aircon on full but the windows full open so you can hear the engine and enjoy an illicit Havana

Let's hear what does it for you - strictly motoring related

conservative group, are'nt we
personally I think PJ is worth a read
parlimant of whores, my fave
some people right him off as some kind of death-wish
fuelled nihlist, but then someone penning;
'it was the best of times, and the worst of times'
was well reported as a disgruntled pugilist

He was the one who wrote "the fastest car in the world is a hire car" - saw him interviewed on TV once - a very unique and inspiring view of the world...

Not necessarily, I'm a lifelong labour supporter and confirmed Blairite. I put P J in the Boris and Stanley Johnson camp; conservative and damn funny, but never nasty, which is fine by me. The article was reprinted in Republican Party Reptile - the title shows a degree of ambivalence
