I need a pair of slippers.

My feet are quite wide and I find size 12 fits best.

A few months back, I bought a pair of 'Dr Keller' slippers off Amazon - and whilst these slippers are comfy and seemingly good quality, they have one annoyance.

The soles - "Thermoplastic Rubbers" - are very hard, so when walking on laminate floors they clonk around noisily.

So I'm looking for something with a soft sole (the slippers are only ever worn indoors).

Budget? ££ not too much.

Any recommendations? Even if it's just which sole material to look for!

Thanks.

I needed slippers after the sole gave up on old faithful, they didn't seem to be available anymore, like you I'm fussy about slipper type and had gone through a few types, without satisfaction. I was in my local garden centre of all places and spotted they had a rack of thermal hats, socks etc. lo and behold there were slippers too, tried on a set made by Jackdaw, and they are perfect. Soft sole but still sturdy enough to knick out to the bins

Looks like they are the "Alistair" type on here:

Can't vouch for the site, this is just where Google took me.

Two discarded banana skins make an excellent, reasonably priced, pair of slippers.

Expensive, but I know they last 25 years (so far!)

Not in my experience. Concept is good but the felt wears / tears quite badly. I've had 3 pairs (one of which was a replacement after less than 3 months) and they all did this within 6 months. They've also gone bust at least once.

I found these. Same concept but wider fit and seem much more durable. No problems after 6 months.

I bought mine as seconds from eBay. Only fault was a little excess glue between the sole and the upper.

I got a pair of Rab down slipper for Christmas. They are great. Very cumfy, lightweight, nice and warm, but not hot and sweaty.

I never did return to this thread to bring closure - for which I apologise.

I ended up buying a pair of Dunlop slippers. Rubber soled, soft inners and quite comfortable.

Obviously I can't comment on durability as yet, as I've only had them a couple of months (I bought them in November).

During lockdown (2002 I treated myself to s pair of posh slippers as I wasnt going out much.
I bought a pair of Birkenstocks as they have a good slmost orthapedic sole.

Getting on for 4 years later and they still look good as new.
