Rodent control
Discussion
Two months in, first service down (thank you DAE) and I’m probably going to SORN the car for a few months as winter sets in.
Parked up in a standalone garage which does have power my mind turns to keeping the little furry friends from doing what they do.
Does anyone have any pointers on what they use the rodents away from precious wiring looks etc.?

Just put mine to bed…got bounce sheets..lots of them in the cabin on microfibre cloths..and a mix of mothballs and bounce all over the engine bay..mothballs in trays..literally everywhere..and the bounce sheets stuffed against the wiring loom..worked well last year…fingered crossed…oh..and wire wool up the exhausts..
I’ve had a lot of rat problems. Bought one of these and so far it has worked well. It’s ultrasonic with tiny strobe lights, the sound is not audible to people and pets.

We tend to see the occasional mouse, occasional evidence of rats in the cellar/around animal feel and squirrels all over the place.
Put a few bait stations down, leave them in there all the time, check periodically, and keep anything else attractive to rodents elsewhere.
Tend to use the larger rat sized boxes and a “single feed” poison and have yet to see any sign of rodent activity in the garages, even when we’ve had spikes in activity and bait take elsewhere. Rats develop runs and the idea of keeping them out/stopping them from getting established in the garage seems to be working so far.

The problem with traps that use a poisoned food source is that the smell of "food" ATTRACTS more rodents. They do not seem to learn anything from the rodent that died of poisoning right before them. In fact, they will step right over a dead body to get to the food source.
The best defense is find the source of ingress and fix it. If that's not possible, then set the traps as closely to the entry point as possible with your prize parked on the opposite side as far away from the entry point as possible.

ds getting in. It's attached to the house so regular cat patrols will highlight any presence. Just can't let the cats in after a run or they'll go to sleep on the bonnet...
