I was listening to the Danish news on the way to work this morning. They were describing an unbelievably embarrassing cock up made by the Danish foreign secretary. He had - at least thought he had - a digital meeting with the foreign minister for Niger, whose native language is French. A recording of the meeting has been leaked. They were speaking in English but the person he was talking to had a very thick Russian accent! Apparently it was a prank call by a Russian media person.

The Danish minister went through the whole interview without realising (or any of his staff realising), even when the Niger minister diverted the conversation to discuss the situation in Ukraine, what Denmark thought about the outcome of the war, whether Ukraine could join the EU…

Unbelievably embarrassing.

Anyone with similar stories of people getting caught out by their own lack of judgement or stupidity?

Some years back, my company was asked to quote to produce Birmingham's annual recycling collection calendar. They decided to do the work themselves and ended up printing and distributing 330,00 calendars featuring an image showing the skyline of Birmingham, Alabama.

Then there's the north Cyprus Prime Minister who was filmed 'relaxing in a gentleman's way' in the company of a lady on line:

This one from Jimmy Carter's chief of staff was much denied. Would love it to be true though.

This BBC Radio Ulster one's done the rounds, but it's the funniest 'mistake' I've heard - apart from the Johnny Craddock 'doughnuts' footage:

Ashley Giles, England spin bowler.

In his testimonial year his club ordered some promotional mugs printed with Ashley Giles "King of Spin".

They turned up with Ashley Giles "King of Spain".

Early 90's a supermarket made a new own-brand washing powder called Zyklon.
Wasn't on the market very long.
