New family tow car needed. lease, PCP, personal loan???
Discussion
Hi all, first time poster. I usually try the hotukdeals forums when i have a motoring question but decided to try pistonheads after continually ending up here reading through the threads for advice.
Anyway, Im currently at my wits end with my car. I have spent in excess of £8000 over the last 2 years on my BMW x3 and i now think its going to be a write off. its a 2011 and has 130,000 miles on it. it has recently broke down when i was towing my caravan, shortly after having 2 turbo replacements and a timing chain replacement. The RAC mechanic has put down that its possible engine failure again.
I have decided enough is enough and i want to buy a new car. I have always bought second hand in the past. The last time i purchased a car, i got a personal loan and bought something outright. When i got a personal loan for the BMW X3 around 7 years ago, the interest rate was something like 2.5% for me. i think i paid £16,000, the car was 5 years old with 45,000
I have just been having a look at the starting prices of some of the family sized SUV's and im still in a state of shock. It looks like i would need to take a personal loan out of at least £40'000 for something, Which is not really ideal.
Which brings me to leasing or PCP. i have never leased a car but a quick search of the skodia kodiak sport ( whatcar touring car of the year 2023) shows that i would need to put down a considerable deposit and i would still me making repayments of around £600-£700 a year!
can anyone offer some advice. be it on leases, family SUVS, recommended companies etc
thanks in advance!

Just picked Volvo because they are seen as decent quality family vehicles.
We've had 6 in our family and all have been excellent.

Have a look at somewhere like lease loco.
There isn’t much interesting around for under £300 a month but there are some deals on Nissans etc
There was one on there last week for a Kia proceed that was close to £200 a month that looked ok.
Just make sure you do all the sums and your happy with the outcome.
