I've heard very good things about it. I'll get round to it once I'm sorted with Cyberpunk.

Downloaded last night but then I fell asleep! I’ll give it a go later.

Go Robo.

I’m loving the nostalgia element of it. The original film was one of my favourite films growing up.

I’m just going through the first bit at the TV studio. Lewis keeps running ahead in to gunfire which is breaking the immersion somewhat!

Wait until it’s a dollar? Then would you buy it?

I finished it the other day, for RoboCop fans it is an amazing game. Probably the single best piece of RoboCop media ever made.

It looks amazing and runs really well (though I was running it on an absolute monster rig), some of the locations are just incredible to look at. The level designers have done a fantastic job, the environments are beautiful and really do look like places lifted from the world the movies are set in. In fact, some of the locations are recreated from the movies, very faithfully. In fact, that is something you could say about every aspect of the game, it has been done faithfully, by a team of people who clearly have a deep, deep love of the RoboCop world.

The fact they've got Peter Weller back as the voice of RoboCop really puts it over, it just wouldn't have been the same without him. His performance is absolutely perfect.

From a gameplay perspective, it's not just a FPS in the RoboCop world. There is shooting, yes, but there is also a lot of exploration, interacting with characters and taking part in other side quests that flesh out the world and the characters. It plays out like a movie and every time you engage in violence, there is a reason in the plot. It's not like a normal open world game where you go around blasting people on every street corner. The open world sections do have some action, but are more about exploration and seeing how RoboCop can interact with the citizens of Detroit.

The shooting, when it happens, is incredible. I don't know how it will fare on console, but on PC, it is one of the tightest feeling shooters I've played in a while. The iconic Auto 9 pistol feels incredible and it completely destroys everything you shoot it at. Bodies are torn apart, heads and limbs removed, blood paints the walls, the walls crumble and crack as bullets hit them. It's extremely accurate and you can nail headshots with ease. In fact, even though there's something like 20 weapons in the game in total, I barely used the others as the Auto 9 was so satisfying and effective.

I saw complaints before the game came out that it looked "slow" and "RoboCop doesn't move much". I guess those people never saw the movies, but yeah, you're a walking tank. You just keep moving forward, destroying everything in your path and it feels amazing. By the end of the game, you can upgrade yourself to be able to bounce small calibre bullets entirely, to highlight ricochet targets to hit enemies in cover, to unleash an electric pulse to stun or kill enemies etc. It's not really a hard game, but it does sell the power fantasy of being RoboCop perfectly.

My only grieavance is the lack of a new game plus. I'd have played it again immediately if I could have started the game on the highest difficulty and carried my upgrades over. I hope it is something that the devs can add in at some point.

I bought it 2 days ago and so far I think it's bloody brilliant.

And it makes up for the very disappointing AW2 that I'd even upgraded my GPU for !

Great review Mastodon. Had a good feeling about this game, will give it a go later tonight on the PS5.

Does it have the iconic Ford Taurus?

Yeah I agree, it looks great and the reviews are good but I am not paying £45 for it.

It does, but you only use it to start and end segments of the game, there js no driving gameplay. The team that made the game is actually pretty small, the credits list for the developers is surprisingly short.

Frankly I will buy it just to play with the targetting system... And to re-live my memories of the film (the good one not the remake)...So for 10-20 or so, worth it, 40 plus, not so much....

Bumping this post. Buy it if you're on the fence. I just finished the game last night. I recommend at least hard mode. Anything less is far too easy, as robocop is a tank. I'd echo the point above. A new game plus would be very welcome.

It's the first single player game I've actually finished in a long time.

I've finished it now. I think it's one of the best FPS games I've ever played. Enter a location; loose off, kill loads of nasties - I like that kind of game ! Nice and simple.

I need to give it another go I think. I started playing it, then got a bit bored investigating a murder. I do get too impatient with games sometimes. laugh
