The Vixen Flexiroof!

I am doing a bit more work on my tub while I wait for my engine to come back from the engineers and thoughts have turned to the issue of roof flexibility and windows becoming separated from the aperture.
My shell has (had) a couple of lengths of brass curtain rail stuck to the inside of the roof at the back and slathered in filler to hold it on. I am guessing this was an "after market" adjustment to try and stop the rear window separating from the tub at speed.
I am interested in others experience of solving this issue.
If I recall correctly someone (i think it was Andrew) fitted a rod between the roof and the dash. A nice mod i think, and I may swipe that idea, but whilst I have the tub naked I wondered whether there was an alternative.
Adding another layer of mat - maybe just at the front and rear?
Adding in some additional strengthening ridges? Mine has a couple of strengthening features made of hessian rope glassed over to create a kind of ridge across the inside of the roof. This is a factory solution obviously intended to provide some strength, but clearly insufficient
Mine also has a broader sort of rectangular cross section strengthener running across the back, also a factory feature.

The screen separation issue is something I want to address if I ever remove the headlining again.
However I had only heard about the front being done due to screen separation when driving at very high speed. No reason not to do the rear also though.
The only suggestion I have come across is fibre glassing a rope around the screen aperture. However the steel rod idea seems good also. This is used on my 1964 MGB and the rear view mirror is clamped to it so you can change the height to suit. MG parts would be easily available and may need no or little modification.
