Evening All,
Received a zero balance bill from Eon-Next, 2 years after selling the house the bill is for. Redirected to the temporary address, my Sisters, where I stayed for a year!. I closed the account for the old address, still have the emails etc. and spent a year with no energy supplier in my name. I presume the new owner of the house has set up accounts with energy suppliers as she is a respectable looking, middle aged mother, so not liable to be a master energy thief!

Set up a new account in March of this year when I finally moved into this place, with Eon-Next, where they asked for details of previous addresses! DD set up etc etc! Just seems stupid after all this time and I will now have to waste time calling them tomorrow, just to be on the safe side, Useless tts!

Sorry, Mild Rant Over.

Did this recently for deceased family member, despite having handed energy account over to remaining family member with pricing deal and little bit of credit also transferred.

Isn't that so they can do a credit check on you? AIUI it's not solely to do with whether or not you owe any energy bills, it's just to find out whether you're the sort of person that orders 10 IPhone 15s and then scarpers.

My reading of it is that because OP had given EON his previous address they knew that he had moved - so he was questioning why they sent something to his previous address.
