I don't get it, but it helps identify the mouth breathers, I suppose.

I saw a new low last night though, this clown had his side repeaters in his mirrors coded to be permanently on as well!

At least they're on.

Feels like most don't use them at all.

Along with these weirdos with Merc *63's with the "rain light" always on.

The indicator thing has been carried over to here from the US where some car makers use them as DRLs to comply with legislation.

Max scene points.

I think it looks poo, but it seems to be getting ever more popular.

Another marker of someone about to drive badly I would treat it as...rather like those with dodgy numberplates or 4D plates

Technically the indicators that are always on are illegal in the UK. Law states that this should only be a white light for vehicles that are non-emergency etc. So having the indicators permanently on can land you in trouble by the British police if they can be bothered to pull you over.

The DVLA should mandate some sort of warning light for bad drivers. Just so everyone knows to be careful around them.

A bit like rookie stripes in some motorsport series, or the Am light in GT racing.

They come as standard on my car and I’m not a mouth breather.

Well, I don’t think I am.

Fun fact... the E53 X5 automatically uses the indicator as a daytime driving light if the 'angel eye' DRL fails.

What, they have the high-level brake light permanently on like the rain light on a racing car? Or is this another light?

Have to say I've not seen it yet but will reserve some scorn for if/when I see it.

I've seen aftermarket rain lights fitted to povvo BMWs then wired in to the brakes so they've got flashing brake lights. That's... stupid.

In fact, if you go to ebay and search for "f1 rain light" the first few hits are all shown attached to various barried up BMWs hehe

Yellow light is also allowed, but otherwise correct.

A bike near me has a green headlight, and another has a blood red one. A lad has purple LED in the front of his Scirocco too. Maybe they'll be pulled but I doubt it, since I've seen them several times over the last 18 months.

Lots of modern motorcycles are now shipped with the indicator lights permanently switched on and only blink when the indicators are used. You cannot switch them off and I'm pretty sure Honda (for instance) know how to get type approval for UK vehicles so one woukd assume its perfectly legal.

There was some twonk in a (distastefully) modded M140i I was following the other day - he'd fitted a very bright central LED light (think like something an F1 car's rain light) that was permanently lit but strobed every time he braked. It looked utterly gash.

Edit: found a video of some other throbber with one, it was similar to this except on permanently and as bright as a fog light:

I think the learned gentleman was referring to the inappropriate use of the rear Fog Light.
